UK Bourne movies VS US Bourne movies?

Was wondering what the differences are between the two? Are they essentially identical in PQ and everything else? I need to buy all three movies but...

I'm trying to decide if I should buy the UK Bourne box set or the first two movies in the US version and then just UK Bourne Ultimatum?

Bourne Ultimatum UK is non-combo, right? I hate combos, is why.

And all HD DVD movies are region-free at this point, yes?

Besides the non-combo nature I think the U.K edition of Bourne Identity and Supremacy are extended versions. For ex, the dinner scene in Bourne Identity in the U.K version is prolonged when compared to the U.S version.

^^^Interesting. Picture quality and extras included are the same though, right?

I know Ultimatum also has True HD in US while only DD+ on the UK version but I don't care about that.

I think the cover-art work is different for all three too.

But what about my above question? And thanks!

PQ should be the same. Sorry I am not sure about the Extras part. Normally the U.K version seems to get more extras than the U.S which gets ignored. Example Serenity.

The UK Discs come in wide spine cases (size of DVDs) while the US discs are in standard Elite cases! Also the british rating logos are huge (front+spine).

But this trend seems to have changed. The recent HD DVDs I imported from the U.K had cases similar to U.S.

I bought the UK version for your exact reason. Didn't want to deal with combo's so I got this.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bourne-Ident...641324&sr=8-13

This is a real box set with the three films. I paid 72 bucks. On Amazon US you can get the first 2 for 20 bucks a piece plus importing Ultimatum UK at 26.3254 would put you at 66.32. Just to keep them uniform I like the box set.

These are all region free.

ABBA The Movie has the wide case.

You think or you know that UK versions are extended. I have not seen anybody post that before, so I do not think you are correct. Also UK version are ususally edited for violence. There are many examples of that.

Most films released in the UK are identical to the US versions. There's a few examples of edits to violence but they're rare.

LGans - are you 100% on the UK versions being longer?

I can only speak for BOURNE ULTIMATUM, but the European disc is a different encode without the original location-type. Instead, the location type is in the form of player-generated subtitles which lacks the "Typing in" optical effect of the original and looks a little silly. I sold my UK copy and bought the US disc because of this.

The quality is excellent on both however.

Normally? No they do not. Normally they have less or lower quality audio than US versions. There are exceptions like Serenity, but it is minority.

taken from IMDB about Bourne Identity UK
According to Doug Liman's audio commentary on the American DVD, the European version of the film contains an additional 1:00 scene, which was cut to make the film shorter in the US. It is included among the bonus features on the American DVD and involves Jason and Marie eating with Eamon and his children at their farmhouse. In the scene, Jason makes a connection with Eamon's young son, setting up the scene a few minutes later when Marie finds Jason looking down at the sleeping children.

What about the Australian version of Bourne Identity? I ordered Bourne Identity from Australia cuz it was cheap, then I ordered the Bourne trilogy from Amazon.com USA later when they had that killer sale. So now, I have both versions in hand, but have opened neither.
The AUS and U.K version are the same.
OK good. I'll keep the "extended" UK/Aussie version then and eBhey the US version.
Hmmm...

My Australian version says: 1:58
My American version says: 1:59

P.S. The US version has a nicer cover FWIW. The ugly ratings logo is very apparent on the Aussie version.

So, despite this, is the AUS one definitely the longer one with the extra scene?

I note that for the US one, it says in the extras:
"Deleted scenes & Extended Farmhouse Scene

For the AUS one, it says in the extras:
"Deleted & Extended Scenes"

I think the overseas version of Bourne Identity has one extended scene.
The US Bourne Identity Extended DVD and HD DVD are 119 mins.
The AUS Bourne Identity Explosive Extended DVD is 114 mins.
The AUS Bourne Identity HD DVD lists 118 mins on the back.
The UK Bourne Identity DVD and HD DVD are listed as 113 mins.

This is why I'm so confused.

Does anyone know if the AUS version HD-DVDs are the same as the UK or the US ones?

Heh.

After all this discussion, we're still not 100% sure. Or at least, I personally am not 100% sure.
Me either. I currently have the US ones but may get the AUS ones if I can get them at a decent price.

Just curious, were there player generated (vs burnt in) subtitles on the UK Identity or Supremacy HD DVDs?
Identity and Ultimatum subs were player-generated. Supremacy has burnt-in subs.
