I got the Proceed Pre yesterday and put it in my system today. Very straight forward connecting to my HT with the Anthem AVM 30 and Parasound A52. I was lucky to get the house to myself today for about 3 hours and used the time wisely
I listened to some of my favorite CDs:
Mark Knofler, Golden Heart
Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms
Diana Krall, Girl in the Other Room
Donald Fagen, Morph the Cat
Jeff Beck, Blow by Blow
Allman Brothers, Eat a Peach
Eric Clapton & JJ Cale, The Road to Escondido
I have been happy with the AVM 30 for 2 channel SQ but the Pre takes SQ to another level. I would have to say it is not a huge difference but one that is there all the same. Imaging as far as being able to discern between harmony vocals and background instruments is so much better. The soundstage both in width and height is also improved.
All in all I am very glad that I decided to try a dedicated 2 channel pre-amp with HT bypass such as the Pre. So much so I bought a PS PCA-2 today to compare to the Pre
. When my AVM 30 sells (no rush
) I will buy a 3808 and IMO have a nice system for both HT and 2 channel. The best part is that I have not spent a huge amount of money thanks to audiogon.
