Is this true?

I finally broke down and purchased the Panasonic DMP-BD30K from Best Buy. I price matched it from Frys, so I walked out with the thing for $369.99 +tax instead of Best Buy's price of $499.00. The guy who PM the player told me that if I price match the player then I am ineligible for the 5 free movie mail in offer. Is this true? Not that the movies are that great, but hey, free movies are free movies...

He's lying. Just send it in, the retailer has nothing to do with the rebate and shouldn't be telling you that you are ineligible for anything.

Frys has brick and mortar stores in Cali. Ours has a train sticking out of it...

Yeah, I could tell he was little bitter about the transaction. I played dumb until it was time to pay, then he called Frys and found out that gee BB is charging WAY to much for this thing. 26% discount. Not too shabby.

$369 for a profile 1.1 player = good deal.
Enjoy your player.

Was this the Roseville BB? usually they won't price match frys because frys have been out of stock of the BD30 for sometime....

Hmmm...I know they were sold out online, so I called the Roseville store directly. Supposedly at 8:30 a.m. Fri. they had 4 in stock. Called again at 2 p.m. and found they had 3 in stock. Hit the BB in Folsom around 3 p.m. and walked out around 3:10 p.m. with the new player...If you are looking for one, I would hit it TODAY...forget the ad if you want to price match. It means nothing. They will always call to verify...517-1500

I think the Best Buy got screwed up with the other deal they had last week. They had a deal where you get 5 free instantly when purchasing any blu-ray player. The deal specificly said not to be combined with other offers. The nice part was on that deal, after they did the price match, I didn't say anything and just handed the person the 5 blu-rays since I knew the computer would automatically do it. The rebate says nothing about special offers or price matches. Just go to the panasonic site and download the rebate form and mail it in

So... Amtrack runs in your area as well I take it?

Our Fry's looks like a Piano (I guess since Austin is known as the music capital of the world it makes sense) and has a player piano inside and pictures of local artist (I.e. Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc.)

Anyway, as long as the rebate isn't from Worst Buy then you are okay. If you try to get a rebate that Worst Buy offers with a price match they will immediately deny you. Since this one isn't through Worst Buy you should be alright.

Palo Alto Fry's had a label on the shelf for the DMP-BD30K at $369.99 today. When the sales person brought the box out, it had a $369.99 price tag on it, but when he printed the invoice it came up $499.99. Two levels of supervisor later they honored the price, then tore up the label from the shelf.

I was able to get the panasonic 30 player from the sacramento frys store for 369. since the other frys were sold out. I guess the 369 was the eal when they were giving out free players when they did the tv deal. then the price went back to the normal price of 499. which was a bummer, because a friend wanted one.

I paid the $499 and took the 5 free January blu-rays. I picked $34.99 ones and probably saved $5 plus tax. I didn't want to hassle with everyone at 8 pm, Friday night (very busy) and I was going to buy the movies anyway. The manager said he would honor Fry's PMl but wouldn't give the January special too. I probably won't be buying much from BB anymore. This was the Roseville store.

I'm sending in the coupon for the other 5 free (blu-ray deal) when I get around to it... From what I've read, they seem to be shipping the blu-ray disks whenever they get around to it.

FYI, the 5 free BD promotion expired as of Jan 31. You must have bought the player by that date and then you have to Feb 29 to mail in the rebate form.
