Few questions about Sony HT-DDW995

Hey everyone

This is my first post. Lots of great info here...I spent a few days reading, and I think I've decided that the Sony HT-DDW995 is the HTiB for me

My setup consists of a Pansaonic TH-50PX75U (720p Plasma), Motorola DCH3416 (Comcast HD DVR w/ HDMI out) & and a cheapo Philips DVD player w/ HDMI out.

My desire is for a decent sounding HT setup in the ~$500 or less range. I can certainly appreciate high-end audio components, but for this sytem I'm really just looking for better sound than the built in speaks on the plasma hehe. I'm open to a HTiB that has a built-in DVD player, but it would have to be able to play DivX and this seemed to narrow my options somewhat for a "complete" system. I'm also somewhat tempted to opt for a better-sounding Onkyo HTiB - but the price of the DDW995 and it's ability to process HDMI audio are appealing to me...unless anyone can convince me otherwise?

There were a few questions I had before buying that perhaps some of you DDW995 owners might be able to help me with?

1) What is the best speaker wire to purchase for this HTiB? I'm guessing that the rear speakers will require 20-50 feet of wire each at the most..so should I go for 12, 14 or 16 gauge?

2) Are there any after-market speaker mounts that work particularly well for mounting the DDW995's rear speakers?

3) Any set-up/installation tips?

Thanks!

Not a popular HTiB?

It's a lo-fi system.....It won't matter what speaker are you running..and, are you sure you can use different speaker wire because I have the silver 790 and the wire cannot be changed...

The DDW995 uses bare wire connections so you can easily use whatever wire
you want. When I installed mine not long ago it was to replace an older Sony
Dream System which did use proprietary connections at the amp. Because I
had run the wire under my carpetting originally and did not want to deal with
it this time, I just cut the connectors off the wiring at the amp and re-used
the wires.

I just installed this system last weekend in the new attic. Had the contractor run some Metra 12 G speaker wire to the rear. I bought three spools of 50 ft each at Amazon, two used for the rear and the third cut into three equal pieces for the front speakers. 12G just barely made it into the speakers, anything thicker would probably not work well.
