Upgrade from X1 to Acer 530?

Hi,

First of all thanks to all here for sharing your knowledge, it was a great resource 4 yrs ago when I bought my x1 and has been again researching various projectors.

Ok the x1 runs fine but have put 3300hrs on the original bulb and now it's getting a bit dim, was very happy with how bright it was first 2000 hrs.
Did get a replacement bulb but sent it back cause it only lasted 5 hrs and now with the cost of the bulb am thinking of just upgrading.

So my main question is (especially to any 530 users who have upgraded from an x1 but all opinions welcome) would the acer 530 be brighter than the x1?

I do understand many prefer optoma hd70 etc but I am in Australia and can only get the 530 at a reasonable price (about AU$900 = $US 790 approx) with an OZ warranty which is kind of important.

Any other comments re sd dvd quality of the 530 (just hoping it would match or better the x1) as this is what I mainly watch.

So rather than the best 720p projector I am just hoping the 530 will be brighter and better than the x1 was/is? all opinions appreciated.

Thanks again.

oops forgot... I use an htpc with x1 and will continue too with 530 just in case anyone was wondering (or it mattered). Will use at native resolution.

I have an Acer and it will be a dramatic improvement over the X1...
