Should be pretty close to bug free, but if you encounter things, would be good to feed back to Classe.
Like I said earlier, this firmware looks pretty good. The only bug I have seen is the unit's screen stuck to "full yellow" in the middle of a movie. On/off with the remote and it was back to normal.
Anyway, there is something I'd like to discuss. I love the SSP-800's sound in XLR-bypass configuration along with my CDP-202. But I cannot get a sound as good as that using a digital input. Not even close.
A few minutes ago, I ripped a CD with iTunes in Apple Lossless format. And played it back via a coax connection from my PC. The sound is pretty good, but so far from the analog version that I am sure I am doing something wrong.
I have checked all the settings on the SSP. Stereo/2.0 speaker configuration/No EQ.
This is what I suspect:
- my coax cable is too long (10 meters is too long?)
- my sound card is pretty cheap (would the jitter slaughter the music?)
- the output is at 44.1kHz: is it high enough?
- the encoding (/w itunes) is not optimal (even with the "error check" option?)
How do you guys play music from your computer? Has the cable a drastic influence? And what about the sound card?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
