Does any one have the scoop on the new pre/pro from Classe?

Will it include an Auto EQ, HDMi 2.0, DSD decoding, 4K VIDEO any one cares to guess smile.gif

Where I live in South Florida I get a lot of short power outages & power surges and sometimes this causes me to lose the audio from my sound system. Usually I have to to reset the Satellite HD Receiver and that fixes the problem. However this last time and the only time I can remember, resetting the Satellite Receiver didn't fix it. So I tried resetting the SSP-800 and that fixed it. Has anybody else experienced this?

Is anyone out there having problems with their touchscreen? The bottom right is non responsive and actually shifts to a point above. This happens on input select as well as other screens such as menu, etc.

I'd recommend putting the SSP and the SAT on a small UPS (a few hundred watts). It works great at avoiding a SAT reboot sequence, which can take several minutes. It also adds a modicum of extra surge protection to my main surge protectors at the breaker panels.

I think I remember mine wigging out in such a fashion some time ago. Has not recurred. Try rebooting if you have not already. Failing that, give Classe a call. They have seen the problem before.

Thanks Roger, I wound up getting one of those for my desktop computer because one of those surges destroyed my last desktop computer.

My touch screen was also unresponsive in the lower right corner so I simply replaced it and it works perfectly since smile.gif

Did you do it yourself, your dealer in your home or did you have to return it to Classe?
I was allowed to do it myself since I'm a fairly skilled technician smile.gif
It's a couple of screws, flat cables and small "regular" cables for the screen.

Yes I am having that same issue! I need to call Classe and ask them what needs to be done I hope I don't have to send it to them frown.gif

Seems as though those touch screens are prone to problems/failure. I also noticed mine was not quite as responsive as when I first got the unit. You would touch it in one area of the screen and it would activate another area sometimes as well.. This was right before I sold it though. I think I will check with the new owner and see how things are going for him.

Have you guys tried resetting/rebooting your SSP's?

You may have to send them back to Classe. Touchscreen on mine is fine. My unit is now being sent back for a power supply problem. frown.gif

How long did it take you? Thanks
You don't have to remove a lot of stuff at all so it's a fairly quick operation, not more than 1 hour from start to stop, and then you're really playing it safe and taking care smile.gif
post #5687 of 5782

It looks like I will have to send mine to Classe in Montreal :(

I just dropped it off last week at the dealer to ship.

Bummer! They won't let me install the screen so I have to ship it back to Classe also.

Hi guys,
I am kind of new here and after i posted a thread about Classe almost nobody can answer my questions.

I am going to be very direct on m doubts.

How does the SSP-800 with all it's new features compares to Denon AVP-A1HD?

Their Multi Channel CA-5300 performs well at 4 oms also? Let's say i connect it to the 802 Diamond, and these speakers sometimes go down to even 3 oms. Is it a good option or the CA-300 monoblocks are the best option?

For Home Theater, that is my main purpose is there any special harmony with Classe and B&W? Or they will sound as good with RBH speakers for example?

Despite the "budget" question for movies is it better to choose Classe or Datasat?

I'm not sure I would characterize the SSP-800 as having new features. The only new feature since its introduction in 2008 was Dolby Volume, which is best left in the off mode.

The Denon has XT-32 which works and sounds great at the push of some buttons. The SSP has manual PEQ which also works and sounds great, but is not at all easy to get tuned to that level (if your system would benefit from EQ, that is).

I cannot imagine either would have a problem driving the 802s. But others will surely confirm.

I feel that Classe amps will bring out the best in either RBH or B&W speakers.

The Datasat imposes different constraints. Like putting it somewhere other than inside your listening room. The fan noise can be audible. So that means remote operation. And even though its Dirac EQ is "automatic," it is not nearly as easy to set up as the Denon. But it sure sounds good once done up right!

Tank you for your help.

I really don't know if we can compare for example Datasat or ADA in terms of Cinema sound to Classe or Denon for example.
My experience is not enough to have a conclusion but i guess the first 2 brands i mentioned have different targets.

The RS20i has alot of fan noise? I tought that problem was more on the AP20 (industrial model).

Anyway i must figure a way to listen on both.

Yes, in fact all three have specific targeted customers in mind. All want to watch movies with a high quality surround experience. But the details are different.

The AP-20 was indeed worse. But I can hear the fan in my BDP-93 when it comes on sometimes when playing SACDs, but for movies it is drowned out by the JVC RS-10 projector. For movies no one complains -- and I tolerate it as it is only audible during quiet passages. And I only use the PJ <5% of the time -- it's mostly music for my theater. If that noise level were present during music listening, it would be unacceptable, forcing me to devise a hush box.

So you need to be aware The RS-20i has a fan and decide whether that enters your evaluation criteria or not.

Try not only listening, but using and calibrating if you can.

Yes unlike Oppo, it seems Classe is not very fast at bringing new features :( It is very unfortunate as I really enjoy all my Classés (CA-M600, SSP-800, CA-5200, CA-2100 and CP-800) Classé addict!

Do you think we will see a SSP-1000 in 2014 at CEDIA with all sorts of new features!

After upgrading my firmware and loosing all of Jeff Meier's calibrated settings I am finally having some time to tweak the SSP 800 and found a setting a few days ago that enabled some sort of overall volume offset. In quick listening before having to head out to a Christmas party quickly determined that upping this setting improved the sound on a quick listen. I ran out of the house without changing that setting as i wanted to make sure before changing anything.

Now that i have some time I've tried looking for it again unsuccessfully, searching the forum and the owner's manual and cannot get find the setting or get back to that screen. mad.gif

Does anyone know what this setting is and where I can find it?

TIA
Owen

There are a few areas where volume can be controlled. The few that come to mind are: (1) Menu--System Setup--Volume--Max Volume. (2) Menu--System Setup--Configuration--(whatever Config. # you are using)--Levels--Front L/R. (3) Menu--System setup--Input--Next (to your selected source)--Audio--Offset, and/or back one step to-- Fav Processing--to verify whether or not you have Dolby Volume engaged or not. You might also verify that "Room EQ" is at the settings you want, or deactivate it. Hope this helps.

Dave

Thanks! It was the last one: (3) Menu--System setup--Input--Next (to your selected source)--Audio--Offset

The only problem is it was selectable when I tried it the other day but now it's not - the button is opaque and does not allow you to modify it.

I can do it for input 1 setting but not for my audio inputs (Inputs 2 & 3). Any ideas on how to activate?
