Why so many Rotel amps for sale?

I think that Rotel was kinda "the" mid-level separates brand for a few years. I remember shopping for my first separates back in 1997-1998 and there were not many reasonably priced amps in that price range. They and Adcom kinda owned that market for a while.

They are solid units and I would not hesitate to buy a 10 year old Rotel amp today.

It will be called China Amplifier 10 years from now, after the party bosses running the plants cut out the execs from this side of the pond.

I have an Adcom which I purchased in 1995. Still better than any of the amps in various receivers I have. So it is still in use with a Denon as a Pre. I just picked up another to use in a Bedroom setup.

If the Rotels are as good, then by all means get one.

I think you get quite a bit for your money with Rotel. I almost bought a RB-1050 last week, to replace a 22 year old ADCOM GFA-535 that runs my surrounds. (Adcom still works great, just wanted a amp with 12v triggers) I ended up getting another Adcom GFA-6002 refurbed from *******, because the salesman at Sounds Like Music, aka Home Theater Store, would not even give me 10% off. It still was a great price, even at MSRP, but 10% is kinda the norm for electronics. And the local B&M's wonder why more and more people are shopping from the internet.

I can speak for mine, which I just sold on a'gon. In my case, I moved from the Rotel RMB-1075 to their new 5-channel Class D amp, the RMB-1085. These just came out a couple of months ago. Don't know if that is the reason for any other sales, but in my case I'm sticking with Rotel. The RMB-1075 is an incredible amp, and a great value for price, IMO.

Well, my experience with the 1085 is limited, as I just installed it this weekend. So far, it appears to have no problem handling music or movie effects (watched Resident Evil: Extinction on blu-ray, and it sounded incredible). It is rated to handle 4 ohms (180wpc), according to the manual.

I've been running a Rotel RMB-1095(5x200wpc) and an RB-1050(2x70) in my 7.1 system for about 6 years now. While I've upgraded every single part of my system at least twice in th epast 6 years I will never upgrade my Rotel amps unless they die on me.

Halfway correct they are made in that country, the rest is a mistery

Agreed. Rotel amps are excellent and a noticeable step up in sound quality from nearly any receiver's power section.

I have two setup in my media room, one for theater and one for stereo music listening. Both systems are powered by Rotel. The RMB-1075 powers the theater and the RB-1080 powers the 2 channel. I love the amps and would buy them again...

I want to buy a Rotel amp but which one do I need? I have a pair of Bohlender Graebener Radia 520 speakers. They recommend an amp with 250 watts. They are 4 ohm rated speakers that I'm told can dip to 2 ohms on many occasions. Their sensitivity is 88db/1W/1m. These are tall speakers 6 FT. to be exact with 50" ribbon panels on each. My other surround speakers are nothing great so should I bother getting a 5 channel amp or just stay with a 2 channel amp? Which models should I get? I'd like to keep it under $1000 for a used one. I liked the looks of the Rotel amps but I'm open.

i'm using a rotel rmb-1095 (3 years now) and a class D rmb-1092 ( little over a year) and plan on adding a class D rmb-1091 for center channel duty.

i love these amps...

I'm possibly in the market for a 5-channel amp. I see the old style RMB-1075 or the new 1085. Speaking from a pure audio quality perspective, do they sound the same? I love the smaller form factor of the 1085 and less heat, but I'm a bit skeptical they perform as good.

I'm looking at 95% HT use, and pairing it with a Denon 3808CI.

I spoke with my dealer (28 years in business)about this subject just yesterday, I commented on how strong the value is on rotel amps esp the 1075 which I have now and have sold one in the past for just below retail. he thought the reason was there are less dealers for rotel(not to mention its one of the best amps for the money period!) and demand becomes greater esp on audiogon.

I believe they are a Britsh design now made in China. If you look at the rear pics of some their stuff on the website you can barely make out the "made in china" Although the NAD master series is also made in China and if I'm not mistaken I could swear I that some of the Parasound Halo stuff is also made there. Does it matter? Who knows. They seem to make EVERYTHING else these days!
