Heck I find your statement that every Samsung has a defect to be obtuse.
I now have a 94U Sharp...still in box til Home is finished. A Panasonic 850 that I will be picking up this Fall when they are released. And I have a Sony XBR4 for my Hot Tub area. Its being used in my computer room until everything is installed. No problem with that one either.
Maybe you need to start by saying its your opinion and not trying to state something as a fact.
So far I am very happy with Samsung. IF they would put out a 70 Plus tv this year I would jump all over it.
What I am talking about is defects that require a fix (Judder on the 54/64 plasma series, took a while for them to fix on the 50 inch models (did they ever fix it on the 42 inch models?) the entire Samsung plasma line had higher than normal amounts of IR, the 61/65 series LCD sets had a HDMI dropout problem (which was fixed after 4 months) and now they have massive PQ issues with a new hardware revision. The 720p LCD line had a audio dropout problem and screen tearing. These are the problems that I had to deal with just after I got the 4254, I'm sure you can see why I don't have much faith in Samsung right now. Every one of their spring 07 units had a widespread problem that was well documented on these forums.
I started off wanting a 4042 LCD and after the screen tearing started to be reported, I started looking for a different set. I learned that the 4254 had just fixed it's audio dropout problem, so I read up on it and decided to get one. Well less than a week later I was constantly seeing Judder (I was one of the first to report it as well) and the amount of IR I had was very high (changing the Channel was enough to leave visible IR), and to top it off, there was a chunk of plastic under the screen the size of 4 pixels (only noticeable with-in 4 feet) so I gave it 2 more weeks (shortly before the end of my 30 days) and it only got worse from there, so I returned it. The 1080p LCDs still had big problems with HDMI dropouts so I couldn't consider them. I just took the money I got for my 4254 return, got a PS3 and waited for the problems to be fixed. Then I heard that the clicking problem with the 07 panny's had been fixed. I was still upset with Samsung (who still hadn't fixed their issues yet) so I gave Panasonic a chance. I have had no problems with that Panasonic so far. (going on 6 months now)
Samsung will have to do a lot to redeem itself in my eyes (and many others who have gotten defective sets from them)
