My Play DVD button did not go away.

But you can try going into the settings portion of VMC and find the applications portion. In there you will find the installed apps and startup apps. You can uncheck items to make them go away. TMT will have about 6 or 7 entries I think. Uncheck them all and add them back one at a time until you have only the ones you want. I removed all but the one which says ArcSoft HD-DVD and BR (I think it says that).

Sorry if this is covered somewhere else in the thread, but could someone provide a link to the Japanese trial version? I'd like to give it a try.

thanks.

Not really sure. It's a bit different on my setup. TMT had its icon in Program Library, it has its own strip, and it added itself to TV + Movies, displacing MyMovies. I had previously setup DVD Library instead of Play DVD, and Autoplay is setup to play my own customized launcher. After hiding the icon, the TMT strip still remained, and MyMovies reappeared.

It's the total media extreme- has more than just TMT-if I remember correctly.

In particular with 3:10 to Yuma.
Has anyone had startup difficulties when your audio card is set to 7.1 analog along with TMT ( Multi Channel In - Analog) Crashes?? Acting like PDVD, wanting primary screen, but no.
Starts up fine in Optical. Pause and change to Analog 7.1 is ok
Another 7.1 Pan's L starts up fine in 7.1 Analog.
Just something to note for ref.

My PC just crapped out today but no biggie it was the psu and I already have another one on it's way a Seasonic 600 watt. This is probably the reason why I was getting hard lock ups with the TMT trials earlier in the week.
Just a note of caution:

I recently rebuilt my HTPC. I installed TMT, of course. However, I installed it BEFORE I setup VMC.

This is a bad thing, it would not run (TMT).

So a word to the wise, learn from me and setup VMC prior to installing TMT or you will be reinstalling TMT.

Thanks for the heads up. I currently have VMC and TMT working correctly. However when I attempt to implement the DVD Gallery hack (registry) for playing Video_TS folders, it seems to completely wipe Arcsoft TMT from the VMC menu. Despite the VMC settings having TMT checked for display in the menu, it is no longer visible. I find myself having to completely restore my PC from an image, each time I do something that affects VMC. Otheriwse I end up with features that are no longer available. Although I find VMC to be way too flaky, I've yet to find anything better.

You should give SageTV a good hard look.

Try MediaPortal. Not perfect, but way better than VMC (IMO).

I have a 2600 XT and using TMT for BD/HD playback. Are you guys checking or unchecking "use application" in CCC Avivo. I was wondering if you all are calibrating picture with Avivo or the software. I know pic quality is different with every computer but I am just trying to get a census of what everyone else is using.

With that said, when i go to advanced under the video tab in TMT, I am unable to adjust settings. The settings are all greyed out. Do i need to be playing the movie to adjust the settings.

Thanks for your help in advance.

When you use hardware acceleration the picture adjustments are greyed out. Mine only work in software mode ( with acceleration unticked).

I'm using an HD3870 but it seems to struggle with VC1 in TMT ( fine with mpeg2 and AVC). If I'm using hardware acceleration I have a profile saved in CCC which has the correct picture settings. If I'm running without hardware acceleration I have a profile stored in TMT that gives me a correct video level output for my video calibrated system. ( it seems to do a remap to PC levels at the default settings).

More often than not I run without hardware accel these days ( my Q6600 is more than happy with every disc and format I've thrown at it).

I can also get smooth 24fps (23.94) playback more readily if I don't use hardware accel.(I suspect this card only likes 60Hz for some reason)

I am getting happier with Arcsoft, and my next step is to find a IR remote that
will control the player. Any suggestions? I've done some research, mostly on the Arcsoft forum, and it seems that there are some issues with finding a remote that will work identically for DVD, HDDVD, and Bluray playback. Also, there seem to be issues between what works with a 2 ft vs 10 ft UI, although I think this is a MCE issue, and I am not using MCE, just running Arcsoft directly. In fact, the PC that is running Arcsoft is pretty much dedicated to playing movies, and isn't used for anything else.
Anyway, sorry for the long version. I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions.
Thanks
Mike

I use VMC, but am still using the standard Microsoft MCE remote. Works for everything I need both inside and outside of VMC. The info button on the remote opens a secondary listing with choices of what you want to do.

Thanks for the prompt help. Are all 'Microsoft' MCE remotes created equal, or are you referring specifically to the one sold under the Microsoft brand? I just picked up the one made by SIIG, and will be trying it out today.
Thanks again.

To be honest, I do not know. I would guess they are all about the same, at least for most of the buttons. They would have to be or else they would not control the MCE interface.

I use the Microsoft branded one.

Post if it works.

The only difference I have seen with the many clones of the Microsoft remote is that the don't have learning on the power and volume buttons...

Thanks for the input. The SIIG remote appears to be working fine, although I haven't exhaustively tested it. I have controlled DVD, HDDVD, and Bluray in Arcsoft TMT 113 with it successfully, and all formats work the same way (great for WAF). I am only looking for basic movie control, and won't be using MCE at all, or the 10 foot mode. My player PC is a slave to an overall media system control PC running Charmed Quark control SW. Is there a way to disable MCE so it never shows up at all, but the remote still works for TMT?
Also really liking the latest version of TMT (113). Plays either mounted ISO's or rips to folders. Overall, seems better than PDVD in terms of homogeneity of experience and playback from folders (wonder how long this will last?).
BTW, I had tried the StreamZap remote with terrible results. It sort of supports PDVD, but doesn't support TMT at all. The company seems to be missing in action and just living off the remaining inventory out there, doing no updates or improvements.
Thanks again.
Mike

Latest version now plays that damn Across The Universe blu ray which till now every other player sits on menu and does nothing. Great job Arcsoft.

I had posted earlier in this thread about TMT closing but not bringing VMC back into focus. Someone here mentioned the "Green Button" instead of clicking "back" on my remote and that worked the first time I tried it.

But now I've re-installed windows on the main PC and I'm having this issue again and the green button isn't bringing VMC back into focus. I also recently built a new bedroom HTPC and it's having the same issue on a fresh install of Vista Home Premium.

basically, when you exit out of the app (by either the green button on the MS MCE remote or the back button on the same remote) TMT closes fine but Vista Media Center does no return to focus. The progam is highlighted in the taskbar as if it's the current window in view, but I'm stuck looking at the desktop. If I press buttons on the remote it actually moves me around in Vista Media Center but I can't actually see what I'm doing until I take out a keyboard and click on VMC in the task bar.

I've tried this with both the .100 and .113 (I think those are the version numbers... they're the latest 2 and I've had trouble with both). I experience this same problem on my bedroom PC as well as the living room PC.

I also have MyMovies installed into VMC as well as TheaterTek for my DVD playback.

Other then that, it's a pretty clean install so I'm not sure where the issue is.

No one else is experiencing this? Those with VMC (and possibly MyMovies) aren't having this focusing issue when exiting TMT?

Was there a version update over the weekend? Or are you referring to version 113?

I do not use MyMovies so that could be a difference.

I wonder if they will support the new ATI 4800 series? Could PAP to this card be on the horizon?

I recently purchased TMT after a seemingly successful trial. Now I have a problem. I ripped my copy of Transformers to disc as files(anydvd). I did test it and it appeared to play fine, but now it doesn't. What's stranger, now the actual disc doesn't play. This started after transformers tried to update off the internet when I loaded the ripped files. Now when I try to play anything transformers(disc or ripped files) with TMT it tries to start but just comes back to the TMT startup screen. Could there be some registry entries that block all future access to Transformers which is preventing me from playing this? PowerDVD will play back from disc just fine. Having AnyDVD running, enabled, or disabled has no effect on TMT in this case either.

Any ideas?

I upgraded from 110 to 113 today. I had been playing my .m2ts rips very nicely with TMT. Now any of them that have AVC video play with only a black screen and audio.

After running them through TSRemux to make TS files, they play fine in Zoomplayer.

Try these two files:

They are the japanese files. Replace your current ones with these new ones. It fixed my black screen problem.

Thanks! I appreciate that!

Oh, and I had that turned around, btw. It was the movies with VC-1 video that played with a black screen, the AVC and MPG2 BD disks were OK.

Found this on a thread by mkanet :
ASUS will bundle a customized version of ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater for playback duties. I plan on returning to the booth later today for additional time with the player, but the titles ASUS provided for BD playback worked without a hitch during initial testing. I will not be totally convinced until I can do a few A/B comparisons and throw some additional titles in the ArcSoft player based on previous experiences.
