Arcsoft TotalMedia Theatre - Page 11

Damn I hate those sneakware that these programs put on our startups. For what it's worth, I disabled ACDaemon and the other ACcrap and it didn't seem to do anything. I think it phones home for something, but I already uninstalled the whole program anyway.

Has anyone been able to fix the "swapped Center - Front Right speaker" problem ?

Well FTIW, VidaBox.Com shows their version of ArcSoft Digital Theatre as coming through tomorrow (1-FEB-2008). Here's to hoping they hold to their release dates and finally release this product for sale.

I thought they were not going to sell the software only?

He actually said that he would not be posting on this forum and that they were going to re-think releasing it.

The Japanese ver doesn't have any of those running on my rig, Cyberlinks calling crap was always 1st priority.

No suprise there, it appears far from ready at the moment and not something Vidabox would seem happy shiping direct to the public.

I want a better solution than PDVD, but I'm definitely waiting for a program that is ready for prime-time. I hope Arcsoft gets this program working properly soon.

I tried the Japenese demo a while back worked great. Last week I downloaded the English version and had nothing but trouble. Did a fresh install of Vista, no more Power**** Dvd. I watched 3 movies last night, Transformers on disc 360 add-on, Elizabeth and Chuck & Larry on HD, perfection. Using spif both ac3 and DTS played perfect. Also tried bits of 30 other movies both HD and 360 add-on. All played perfect, menus everything works, can select hardware accel or not. With hardware accel 15 to 25 % processor, without about 50%. This is on a budget system.

Asrock 4coreVista board with e4400 overclocked to 2770, Msi 8600 GTS, 2 gig budget mem, 360 add-on, 500 gig Seagate HD. Using on board spif had not time to test analog out yet. Of course I am using all the latest bios and drivers.

ARCSOFT please don't break it. Last night was the first time that I was completely satisifed with picture and sound, that I did not have to make any adjustments from movie to movie as with Power**** DVD. I spent hours trying to get the picture right with Power***DVD. I now can just hit play and enjoy.

It is working properly for many people. Including me.

It is NOT working properly for many, many people. Including me. Near two times more CPU demanding, audio chanels in wrong speakers,...

Works fine for my setup here so far. I do have a (slightly) related question though. I use coaxial out to my Logitech Z-5500 speakers. What do the speakers do with PCM5.1 sound? I don't own any titles yet that have PCM, so I am kind of curious.

i want to know if this software can play hd-dvd/blu-ray disk or not?
Has anyone tried this with Intel 945 graphics?

The 945 are not HDCP-compliant, so while PowerDVD 6 was able to run on it, version 7 refuses.

Can Arcsoft's TMT run on Intel 945?

I've been trying the English Trial for about a week now and am hesitant to go ahead and pull the trigger on purchasing this. When I first heard of this product, I was excited to know that it would "integrate" with Vista MCE. But here are some of the issues I have and maybe someone can chime in and let me know if there are any fixes;

1.) Audio needs a lot of work. I've tried both analog and digital using a bGears bEnspirer Card and get mixed results. As most of you know there is an issue with the Center Channel and Right Front Speaker switching places. In a viewing room like mine this is very unacceptable. I have a pretty large room so speaker placement is far apart and Surround Sound is very noticeable. My best results was 2 Channel Audio and letting my card process the Audio using Dolby Digital Live, but that creates dialog being sent out on all three Front Speakers

2.) A big let down for me is no "VCR" control with my remote. I use a Harmony 1000. When ever I use TMT the only control I have with my Remote is 4way directional. Even the back button doesn't work to go back to MCE. This is very dissapointing in that the advertisement for this is

"The program comes with a Windows Media Center Edition plug-in built right in! The plug-in provides a "10 foot" user experience: big buttons and compatibility with your remote control mean you can use TotalMedia Theatre to watch your HD DVD and Blu-ray movies from the comfort of your couch. "

If I have to go back to using my keyboard and mouse, then it's not a "10 foot" experience.

3.) Finally I'm mostly a "red" guy but have conceded defeat and bout to start buying "blu". However, nowhere does Arcsoft mention that this product supports BD+, and even though it's not much of a concer now, it will be in the future and probably sooner than most think once Fox Studios starts churning out more releases.

If anyone has any tips for corrections to these issues please chime in and let me know. In the meantime I'll still contemplate whether or not to purchase.

Btw, on a positive note, I was impressed with the Video Quality and being able to play on both Digital and VGA Screens.

Didn't the vidabox dude say their version had this fixed already before he left? Probably just a matter of time.

HP remote included with HP Media Center system works fine including the buttons you say aren't working for you. No other remote to test and not sure what a "harmony remote" is. Guess it's a brand name...

I'm curious about that, too.
