Getting a 32" Samsung..get extended Warranty

I plan on getting a 32" Samsung next week from CC. Its costs $860...which will round to approx. $930. But the 3 year warranty is $150. That's a little too much IMO. I will be using the TV for Blu Ray Movies, my PS3, and my Wii. Is it necissary to pay $150 for an extended warranty?

Think of it this way, its paying 50 dollars every year for three years for peace of mind. If it breaks then it's worth it, you don't have to ship it directly to the manufacturer. But if it doesn't break then your out of 150. If basically your propensity to risk.

warranty are retarded! if its gonna break its gonna be the first year! besides you can always buy warranty after the 1 yr manuf online.

I had no idea you could purchase another warranty after the 1 year. But I know they don't cover stuff like dead pixels.

Go Mack or CPS. You should be able to find it for much cheaper than the warranty.

In my experience (with most electronics), manufacturing defects will typically become evident within the first few weeks/months of use. Considering that Samsung has a 1 year parts and labor warranty with on-site service for their 30" and above LCD's, you need to figure out whether it's worth it to you to spend the additional $150 now for two extra years of coverage. ......it's $75 a year (not $50) since any problems during the first year are covered by the manufacturer. Through personal experience in the indusrty and as a consumer, I believe most (not all) extended warranties are simply revenue generating opportunities for the mfg'er/reseller.

agree .. have also read here that when purchasing w/ American Express card, that'll extend warranty for another year .. but you'll need to check on that.

May be bad poop now

I would buy it Bestbuy and tell them to price match the TV. Bestbuy has their warranty service plan for 4 years at $150 for TV's under $1250, and over is $180. Also they currently have 36 months no interest at both Bestbuy and CC.
