I went with the Elite 100" CineWhite screen. the projector is plenty bright, and the relatively close mounting distance ('bout 10-11' away) doesn't warrant a gray screen for me. it gets the job done nicely for me so i don't need to spend $1000+ for a highend, top brand screen! let's say, in the future, if I wanna upgrade and trash it, I won't be feeling too bad.

Theater looks great! I wish I had a room that I could convert over to a HT room. Right now I have to settle for being in a rental place.

How have things been? You still doing track stuff? PM if you would prefer.

is this Brad?? yes, this is "the" landshark~!! YGPM.

Love the room. You've inspired me to do the same type of project to a spare room in my condo!! Maybe I can be finished by the time football season begins. I used this thread to show the future wife that a home theater room can be classy.

LandShark, this is one impressive HT, and it has inspired me to set mine up. Do you mind sharing where you obtained your disc storage cabinet? Thanks.

also moved the SuperCubeI up front for better blend in to the sound stage. with all 4 subs from the front, watching War of the World or the latest Cloverfield is an awesome experience!! (and I think my next door neighbor might starting to hate me now )

p.s. have to photoshop it in order to "see" the speakers since they blend in so well with the black wall!

still missing a htpc client. I'm waiting on the newest onboard video chipset that also support DD HD & DTS MA via HDMI before I'll build one. hopefully late may, early june....

Landshark,

Nice job on the room. It is most impressive what you did to that room. Only complaint I have is you are making me want to spend money to finally finish my room.

Hey man nice setup, congrats. However, how is the PQ on the projector, im thinking bout picking one up in the next couple of months and i have not seen it demoed on any stores. Is the HD quality very sharp, crisp and clear? maybe say compared to LCD tv or not at all? your pics looks like its a sharp picture. Also can u hear the fan blowing over you head during quiet scenes in a movie?
Thanks in advance.

I really love the PJ!! very good black level and plenty of brightness for daytime usage!! Art @ projectorreviews rate it highly too!!
Epson HC 1080UB review
Best of the Best 1080p PJ

and honestly I did not hear the fan at all even during some very quiet scenes. and the only time I hear the iris is when the PJ power up.

landshark...beautiful theater! I just purchased a home with a room (11 x 16) that I am hoping to turn into a theater room as well. I was thinking about bipole/dipole speakers for surround as you have. Just wondering how far off the back wall you have yours and how the sound is??

the rear surround is 'bout 1.5'~2' from the back wall. I really love bipole/dipole speakers especially for the surround for movie experience! the surround sounds much more like..... really surrounding you! e.g. in Hitman, the first scene where the interpole cop come back home in a rainy night, you can really feel the rain falling all over the room instead of like the rain is from the rear! you see what I mean? surround sound supposed to be diffused, non directional!!

i think your surround speakers are too high. for all the work you already put into your HT you should get 2 more surround sound speakers.

yeah, if I've got the choice, I would put the surround may be a foot or so lower. however, if you look at this rendering below, you'll see there's the walk out sliding door right under the surround speaker. thus, I can't put this any lower than what it is now.

as for putting up 7.1, two more rear surround, in the room, well, I'm sitting only 2' from the back wall! it won't make much of a difference from 5.1 to 7.1 in such close distance (and small room) between the side surround and rear surround!! if I've got a bigger room, then yes, I sure will go for 7.1.
