What the diff from STR DG810 &STR DG710

I trying to figure this out. What is the differance from the 2 models.

I have a new Blu-Ray player and want a good sound to match. All my Home theater is Sony. I have the BDP-S300.

Major differences are:

710 has 2 HDMI inputs, 810 has 3
710 will only output 2 channels of high def audio (received as PCM from an HD-DVD/Bluray player); 810 will output full 5.1/6.1

You are aware the 710 & 810 are only 6.1..
If you want 7.1..
Step up to the 910..

Could you elaborate or explain. Don't they both do 5.1/6/1?

^^^Yes, for legacy DD and DTS like you might find on an SD DVD. The difference arises for something like lossless True HD audio decoded to PCM by an HD-DVD or Bluray player. For that case, the 710 will only give 2 channels via HDMI.

Well, I almost bought a 710 today,but was waiting until I read your answer. I still do not understand, but thanks for trying.

The 710 will only give you stereo from BD or HD DVD lossless tracks, not 5.1.

I have an 810 and I thought, when researching, I saw that the 710 does NOT have binding posts for the speaker connections. It has clip type connections.
