Well Quick background.
I have a $0 budget and wanted a home theater so almost everything in my theater was at some
Point someone's trash. I think of myself as frugal

The projector is a Sony VPH 1001Q I have (4) of these units and (4) VPH 1042Q's and one
Zenith Ultra Vision 2000 CRT projectors. All of them where from someone's trash. the Zenith
Would only work on its side haha. Found a crack on the power supply board ( the transformer
weight was causing the intermittent problem) After about 20 solder jumpers it works good as
new. But has no convergence...At all! haha Just XY for Blue and red. Sad part is the tubes
Only have (best guess) 20~100 hours.

NOTE: The wire mess is awaiting the large crown molding I will be installing this winter.
The Sony's came from my work they where in a theater of ours that upgraded to LCD and the
Cost to have the old units removed (about 25 feet up in the air) was huge and when I offered
To take them down and get rid of them they where so happy! .. I smiled the whole time haha.

The screen is a silvered CRT screen fabric (as I was told) but when exposed to Black light
The fluorescing material has all but warn off but you can still see the MFG's logo.
It is 7' diagonal and has a 1X2 frame behind it.
The large projection TV was also from the trash. A local friend of mine had a friend who had
There house struck by lightning. The TV was deemed dead. (Would not turn on) After re
Assembly (they took it apart with a sledge hammer ...eek) it worked fine... I found after a
Quick google search the Hitachi Ultravision 60" projection TV will go into a safe mode after
A power surge and only needed unplugged for 4 hours to reset.... Well mine now
The rack to the left was from an old exhibit we had at work. I hinged a clear acrylic door
For the front and the knob on the door is the top of an old Pot lid!
Most of the stuff in the rack is also from the trash. The EQ just had a dog chewed cord the
CD player just had a dirty lenses the Mixer just had a blown fuse and needed cleaned. The
Best part is the SUB amp It would blow a fuse the second you turned it on., After about 1
hour of troubleshooting I found it had one bad power transistor. I removed it and it now
Works fine (one channel down of coarse) but it still has plenty of power for my Dual 15's
That reminds me the speaker cabinets are from the local trash days they all had blown
Drivers in them so a coat of black paint and some driver swapping later they look and sound
Brand new!
The center couch in the front.. you guessed it trash as well! Simply needed the recliner
Mechanism oiled haha The coffee table is 2 parts from 2 different units. I have installed
(2) 15amp outlets and phone/data jacks into it for the new HTPC going in soon to control
Everything.

The touch screen display on the table is going to control the room Via IR and X-10 devices
and Serial RF adapter. The touch screen was yet again from the trash the backlight Cold
cathode failed so I replaced the driver and tubes from another unit I had with cracked
glass. and it is good as new now!
The Computer is also run through a Converter to run as S-VID..

Not bad for 4X down scaling haha.

I could not afford speaker mounts so I had (2) old IBM LCD monitor stands laying around so I
turned them upside down and mounted them to the ceiling and Bam rear speaker mounts!

They threw away 2 old popcorn popper units from our theater at work. One had a bad pot
heater and one had a bad agitator... I combined the too and now have a working pop corn
popper that can feed the whole neighbor hood haha. The scary part I can fill the unit 1
foot deep with popcorn for $4 lol What a markup they charge. and boy does it smell soooo
good.
