Does anyone have a link or a PM/E-mail were I can get the beta for my spyder 3?
If I set my upconvert DVD player to 1080P, can I set the colorHCFR program at REC709?
Or do I need to turn off upconvert and set colorHCFR to REC601?
I'm using colorHCFR PAL 10% patterns DVD. With the 10% patterns I get a better gamma line. Thanks for any help with this.

To be clear, the Spyder2 works with HCFR. Spyder3 support is in development and you'll have to make a special request for that version of HCFR.

Thank you again.
As I have mentionet I'm new member but also new to calobration. Is there a user guide anywhere for this software to get me started? Again sorry if this was posted already.

There are a TON of great threads, but definitely start with Greyscale for Dummies.

Edit: And here's the thread:

I have been using an i1LT and ColorHCFR to calibrate my new Mitsubishi WD-65736 DLP and am having problems with the program freezing when taking a continuous reading with the mode set to LCD. Setting to CRT seems to fix the freezing problem for my set but others with the exact same set as mine are not able to get theirs to work. They get the same freezing when set to LCD mode but when setting to CRT they get a "refresh rate error" when trying to calibrate the i1. I have a Calibration and Tweaks thread started in the Rear Projection for the new mitsubishi's

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1054936&page=2

and someone posted this might be a bug in the software. Is there any way to correct this? Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm not sure if it's related, but I get a freeze with the i1LT if I change screens while a reading is active (using LCD mode). It seems worse when I change to a low-output screen, like 0% or 10% greyscale. After about a minute the application will come back to life. I'm not sure if this is what you're seeing. My workaround is to simply stop doing that.

seems to be close to the same, but it would freeze even when not switching between test patterns, at least on my set anyways. Also taking a full grayscale or color reading was almost impossible because it would freeze halfway through. I assume it is alright switching to CRT mode as a work around since the readings were the same?

Sounds like you've got a different problem, like a bad probe. I've never, ever had a freeze not attributed to changing patterns during a reading.

I have no idea about the CRT mode, or why it has the same readings (just to let you know that I wasn't overlooking that question).

It's not just me it is pretty much everyone that calibrates the same set as mine with an i1 and colorhcfr, so I think it is ColorHCFR related instead of a bad probe. Is there a way to manually change the refresh rate in colorHcfr? Thanks for your help.

We can use the spyder3 with this software? Do we select spyder2 then?

As you can see I am very, very, very new to this matter? Be gently!!

Thanks,

Hi! Laric (and the all HCFR member team). It does a long time from the last post that I wrote here.

Congratulations for the new version 2.0.1 of your soft. I've been working with it, and it works fine, but I have a suggestion. The box with title "i1pro parametres" has got a option to fix the time between recalibrations. This is a good idea, but I think it should be in other probes, for example inside of parameters box of DTP-94, but it is missing. (This probe also need recalibracion).

Best regards

Does anyone have info on how the HCRF Probe stacks up against:
a) DTP94
b) i1 LT
c) i1 Pro

Interested both a) in general and b) in low light, say <30IRE

Thanks.

It was especially designed for low light measure and for sure it goes way beyond the above probes in that area... But, obviously, have it's own drawbacks, especially the need of calibration files (except if you allready have an i1 and so do your own files or probe trainning.)

Patrice,

from me also a big Merci, Danke, Thank You, for the excellent Software!!
Thanks Laric-
I don't have an i1, but I do have "access" to a DTP94... but then the question would be how to benchmark it's low light performance against this, or for that matter one of the other probes, if it's performance is that superior...

Also, any thoughts on using it with direct view sets, vs front/rear pro?

I have the same problem. You have to be delicate with HCFR and the i1 colorimeter!

Patrice,

Do you have any data from which you draw this conclusion? Not that I don't believe you, but the X-Rite i1Pro seems to be very highly regarded around here for a device under $1000 USD.

I see you have instructions for building your probe, but they are in French only. Any chance we'll get an English translation?

Also, is it possible to purchase your probe directly from you instead of having to build it oneself?

Does it already work with version 2.0.1 of the software or is it slated for support in a later version?

Thanks.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...5#post10477985 is a thread comparing various popular probes including the HCFR. The I1 was considered reference. Yes it works with V2. Yes there are a couple of English versions.

YES

You will need the Beta160 of the software. Should ask on the HCFR forum for it.

That website would be helpful if I can read French. Is there an English version?

thanks,
