Possible King Crimson in surround - Page 9

10 albums were mentioned somewhere, right?
I was hoping for more early stuff, but I will still buy Beat and Thrak. Thanks for the info!

edit: Oblio98, where did you find this info? I couldn't find it with Google.

Personally, I think that these three (especially Discipline) and Thrak stand out because of Bruford's brilliant batterie; as were the preceding KC avatar releases (LTiA, SaBB, and the incomparable Red). Belew singing is quite good but his guitar "antics" left me lukewarm. He appears, though, to have matured nicely in TPtB, which is my favorite of the latest KC releases. I bet that Thrak will come out very nicely in surround because the dense sound from 6 excellent musicians will now have the space to operate from.

Finally got my grubby hands on Lizards through Amazon, and it was well worth the wait. What a revelation this is! I had always liked Lizards for historical reasons, but it didn't get much recent play from me until now. I am amazed at the sonic detail now available, and some songs (like from the jazzy second half, Lizards) are quite transformed. I only wish that there had been more extras, like video performances or additional versions from this era, included. Very possibly the best result from surround sound application among the 3 current KC re-releases.

Finally listened to In the Court...
Forgot that "I Talk to the Wind" was on it.
Probably hadn't heard that song in more than 30 years.
My eyes got a little misty.
Can't wait to hear the rest of the releases.

Looks like we'll see BEAT and THRAK as the next two titles, maybe as soon as Jan/Feb 2010.

Where did you get this info from? I can't find it, and would like to read about it.

I received my trilogy today. I was blown away. I remember an interview with Steven Wilson awhile back. He spoke about how he felt todays music scene lacked the tactile experience, liner notes, gate folds, the smell of the friggin vinyl when you broke the plastic wrap and the actual event of purchasing an album.

I've gotta say, these KC discs are some of most thorough, the most slick, and some of the most beautiful in my collection. I believe each one is a jewel in their own right and I will treasure them as such. Thanks to all involved!

^^^^^ Likely meant ITCOTCK, Lizard & Red.
AFAIK, no others have been announced as of yet

Yeah, I knew those are the ones out, but never heard them called a trilogy before. They are like 8 albums apart, total. I got excited thinking a "real" trilogy what with the rumors of a Feb release of some of that threesome from my fave KC foursome.

Hey Ted. Sorry for any confusion. The afformentioned discs arrived in a tidy bundle of three from the UK yesterday. I suppose I could call them the "triplets". Though that may invite more remarks than the "trilogy" reference. Sorry to confuse.

No problem. The trilogy comment got more out of it than I thought, sorry. Glad you like them. Now...c'mon keep em' comin'.

Just got notified that Islands and Beat are scheduled for 4/21 release in Japan! Hopefully we'll see something shortly from Burning Shed. Can't wait for Islands!
Thanks for posting the news!!!

Now if they just do one more with these additional two, we could start referring to them as "double trios" and really confuse things...

Aaaah! Island! One of my favorites.....IMPALED on nails of ice, and raked with emerald fire; RIP Boz. Would have preferred Discipline over Beat, but I'm buying them all anyway.
Anyone know what the Islands extras will be??
Still no UK release date or details? By the way, the latest Goldmine issue has an article on KC, quoting biographer Sid Smith, making some tantalizing but still vague remarks about the new Islands mix and extras.

Thanks to the rampant--or should i write rabid --enthusiasm here, I ordered ITCOTCK and Lizard off Amazon with the extra discount. They arrive on Wednesday, so some excitement is building.

I'll let you raving lunatics know if I'm emptying a barf bag or a drool bucket after I hear them.

Seriously, though, this could be one of those a-ha moments when the music reignites after years of neglected smoldering. I'm hoping for the drool bucket.

Hey All,
King Crimsons DGM web site (under the merchandise section), has T shirts available to buy. This is what it says,
"All shirts are 100% cotton, Hanes Beefy Tees showcasing the artwork for three Crimson classics: Islands, In The Wake Of Poseidon and Beat. Each shirt is available individually, or at a significant discount if all three are ordered together Series."in celebration of the next three releases in the KC 40th Anniversary".

So it looks like you can add In the wake to the list.

Bobby Fripps Diary for 3rd and 4th of March has him a Super audio Sound matering 'Posidon' and 'Islands'. So these must be close to eing finished now
post #262 of 445
Yes, it seems like ITWOP might be one of the next titles released. This is one of my favorites, so I'm keeping high hopes. 70's King Crimson is definitely my brand of Crimson.

You won't find in on Google, you'll have to trust me on this one (As much as you can trust anyone on the internet! ) I think if you wait long enough you will be VERY happy.

Odd that release dates for Japan for Islands and Beat were quickly bumped back to May, and I still have not seen anything at all for the UK release. Anyone have any clarification??

Thanks for this alert. I succumbed and picked this up because Islands is my all time favorite KC cover; trifid nebula as galactic islands.. awesome! The music is also excellent. I'm not wild about Wake or Beat (audio or as t-shirts), but SW might create some magic here as he did for Lizards and blow my mind. I hope that Larks Tongue, Starless, and Discipline will be the following troika of releases.

Now the Japan releases for Islands and Beat (which were first announced for April, then bumped back to May 19) are delayed indefinitely...per CD Japan. Bad news indeed.

Thats because they ahve not been finished yet, expected reelase date for these is Sepetmber, which is quite a wait between releases i Know but Bobby Fripp does seem to like short bursts of action on his back cataloge rather that 100 % concentration untill the jobs done.

Keep an eye on his diarys a very interesting read.

Seems to me that the hold up would be more over Steven Wilson extending himself over so many projects, than Fripp's engagement on the project. From his (Fripp's) diary he appears to be in semi-retirement.

Has anyone placed an order for these t-shirts and received them? I placed an order in April, got a notice that they were shipped, but never received them. DGM sales doesn't respond to emails, has no phone number, and even a certified letter with receipt tracking to their Beverly Hills, CA address didn't elicit a response. I may have to cancel the credit card charge at this rate!

You might try posting your query on the DGM forum. It's been effective for me in the past when DGM has been unresponsive otherwise.
