I need to get HD signal from a DirecTV HD DVR (HR20) to my new Samsung 19" LCD HDTV that is in the kitchen while the DVR is in the family room. While I have a single Cat 5 and two coax cables near the kitchen TV, I cannot find a solution that will allow me me to send HD video and analog audio over these existing wires (I can send HD video and digital audio over the Cat 5, but the LCD HDTV only have analog audio inputs). So, I'm thinking the best solution might be to run a 50' HDMI cable from the DVR to the HDTV. Some of the run will probably need to be outdoors to avoid tearing up my walls too much.
Does anyone have experience using an HDMI 50' cable with a HR20 HD DVR? Any problems with video quality? Do I need an amplified cable? Any known compatability issues for HDMI with Samsung HDTVs? Other options that I've missed?
Thanks
John
