DirecTV HD DVR and linking

I've read that the new HD DVRs have ethernet. Can one transfer a show from 1 to another using ethernet?

I currently have the HD Tivo and an older SD non-dvr. I want to upgrade both. Sometimes, we want to record more than 2 shows at the same time and currently can't. However, we would prefer to watch the recorded shows on our 65" screen than on the 32".

Is there a way to do this?

No, you cannot. You can listen to music from your PC, however.

High-definition transfer from one DVR to another is currently exclusive to the TivoHD and TiVo Series3 for Cable/OTA.

You can get two HDTV DVRs, and dedicate one to each TV. They are now $199 ea, and you should be able to get the first for $0 to $99 as an upgrade to your older box.

You may see the capability to play programs from one DVR through the other in the future though. It's called multi room viewing. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=115575
