Canon HG-10/Corel Guidemenu problems

Hello,

Recently got an HG10, love it. I edit with Vegas 8, seems to do just fine.

However, I'm running into a problem trying to copy rendered AVCHD back to the camera using guidemenu. It simply doesn't work. Just gives an error, says "The Camcorder is not operating normally...." blah blah.

Is there ANY other way to put files back on the camera? Right now, that's the only way for me to see stuff in high-def on my LCD. I don't see why you just can't copy files back to the camera and play them back....

Anyway, support for this "corel applications disk" is a total joke and I don't even want to try to go down that path. They will say it's a camcorder problem and canon says it's a corel problem. Yada yada. I'm really hoping there's another alternative.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I haven't actually tried this (my camera is in my car and I'm too lazy to go get it right now) but you should be able to just open My Computer and see the camera. Navigate down to "streams" and dump a file ini there. I would think this would work.

Yeah, I thought this would work too, but it doesn't. I think the reason is that the playlist on the camera needs to be manipulated. I've even tried pulling a file off the camera and putting it right back on, and it doesn't work.

I've found my solution though. Last night when searching around on this I found out that my PS3 can play the files without a problem... you just have to burn them as data on a DVD and pop them in the PS3. Works beautifully...

Yes, the PS3 plays the native AVCHD. Isn't that great! BTW, look around the forum and you will see that many here have connected the PS3 to their PC and, using media server software like Windows Media Player or Tversity (my choice) or Twonkyvision, are streaming the video without using a disk. Note that WiFi is not reliable for AVCHD and you will need to run wired Ethernet.

Of course, by putting the video on disk you have already backed it up.

You know, *that* would be the answer. And it's kinda funny, I already have ethernet running between the rooms, I just need to throw a switch in there. I was planning on it anyway, but will put this on the fast track. I will check out that Tversity right now... thanks!
