JVC DILA 52G886 please help! Urgent!

4 hours to kickoff and my digital tuner had gone out to lunch!

It began a few weeks ago, I stopped getting any digital channels, If I tuned to them I would get "no signal" and a blank screen. Antenna level showed as zero. It's usually my cablecard (piece of dung) so I removed it, let it cool down, and replaced it. No go. So I powered down, unplugged the set for about 10 minutes and powered up again. At this point the trouble starts. If I tune to any digital channel, I get a static screen with various shades of green blcoks. Like white-noise you would get from tuning to an unused tv station, but unmoving and green.

I emailed JVC, and about 5 days later I get a suggestion to unplug the TV for 15 minutes and try that. (Which is what caused the problem, and I assure you I did try again at the time.) Well, oddly enough, by this time my digital channes came back, on their own, with me having done nothing in the meantime. Really odd.

Well, guess what happened today at about 11:00 AM? Needless to say I do NOT have 5 days to wait for the problem to correct itself again.

I looked up the service menu, but can't find anything to help in there.
I unplugged the set for 30 minutes, and tried again, to no avail.
The problem exists with or without the cablecard installed, leading me to beleive it is an internal, tuner problem.
Service menu gives an NG9 for the tuner.

I searched as best I could the site, seeing nobody else having this same issue. Nothing on resetting the tuner, or the internal micro either. (That I can find.)

Has anyone any idea on what I can reasonably do in the next 4 hours so that I can watch the game? You folks are my last hope to be able to watch in HD goodness.

Very expensive, but go out and find a standalone HD Digital tuner like the ones that were common before sets had built in tuners, maybe Radio Shack still sells 'em. The HD Tivo would probably work and costs $299 at Sears if you can't find anything else--has ATSC and QAM tuners.

Connect a normal Antenaa to the TV's ATSC input and tune the channels making sure you set the TV to "Air" not "Cable". You should get your local HD channels. If this works, then the problem is more likely the CableCard.

You are actually lucky though. ATSC air broadcast will probably look better then cable since it is 1080i.
