Any Difference Between Polk Monitor 40 and 50?

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any difference in sound quality between the Polk Monitor 40 and the Polk Monitor 50. I looked at the specs and they seem identical. I know the 50s are floorstanders and the 40s are bookshelves, but is that the only difference?

Thanks.

Bump. I have the same question.

Basically yes, that is the primary difference. With bookshelves vs. floorstanders, floorstanding speakers may sound differently when it comes to bass frequencies. Due to the larger cabinet, even though there's only about a 10Hz difference between the speakers, the floorstanders bass may seem deeper or more pronounced. Other than that, there really isn't much of a difference between the two. I would urge you however to listen to them in person if possible to determine if there is a marked difference between the two, but I somewhat doubt it.

Cut the 50's in half and put a small port in the rear.. and you have the Monitor 40's.

the M50's have a larger, deeper, front-firing bass port due to their floorstanding design.
