I was kind of hoping I'd be able to buy a white DualShock 3 when they come out in the US so it's good news to me.

It looks BUTT-FUGLY.

Can anyone tell what size HDD is in it from those internal photos? EDIT: nevermind, manual for the CECHH01 indicates 40GB.

Definitely has the re-designed rear, this one will probably run very cool. But no SACD

Yeah, that's what I'm really waiting for - one of those white DS3's

I guess the PS3 doesn't discriminate.

I find it funny that Xbox360's have a special edition that is in black and Playstation3 has a special that is white. I guess they both think the grass is greener in the other ones color

Why does it seem every new gen PS3 seems to be losing features instead of adding???

So far, the PS3 has lost Emotion Engine, 40GBs (down from 80GB), SACD...anything else I'm missing?

I guess the next gen PS3 will lose Blu-ray playback as well.

It's looks ugly in my opinion. I hope the Sliver one looks better than this, if they ever release it that is.

You're right about that. Even taking out the SACD chip, it saves Sony a few bucks. Since Sony doesn't sell any new SACD titles any longer, I guess it didn't make financial sense to keep putting the feature in there.

I really think Sony's motivation is to move the PS3 to a more pay-for-content platform anyways. Downloading movies, games, etc to the hard drive for a fee.

That white color is ugly. I prefer my electronics components to be black or silver.
When that comes out I am selling my 60gb and getting a white. And a white ds3 to go with it.
this might be great news

this white PS3 on those pictures says DOLBY TRUE HD on the top picture...
lossless audio???????
Reading the acompanying owner's manual, it confirms that yes, lossless Dolby TrueHD 7.1 via HDMI is supported.

DTS-HD 7.1 is not.

Dolby TrueHD is nothing new to the PS3. IIRC, every version can decode Dolby TrueHD. They output it as PCM, however.

DTSHD-MA is the troublesome one, TrueHD plays fine (just not bitstreamed).

I kind of like it, but already have one and have no need for a second.

Not sure if I would like a white controller after a year or two of use, I think it would start to go beige in parts and basically look dirty.

Yep, I know. I'm not sure if the current crop of PS3s will ever be able to handle DTS-HD MA the way most of us would like.

Bought!

Yep...it's ugly. To each their own, I guess.

Rumor has it the PS3's SACD decoding is dependant on the PS2 graphics chip inside it. That would explaing why SACD support disappeared from the 40GB models but I'm not so sure if it's true. Seems like the Cell should be able to handle that easily.
i think it looks better than the black and it won't show dust as easily. if i had the choice, i would get the white one.
I've asked this before and I'll ask it again.

When the H-E-double-hockey-sticks does this thing come out!?!?

I don't own a PS3, waiting for Haze to tip me over, but a white model would def make me jummp in early...
Yikes, I'll never undstand the white electronics fad. I know these things are made out of cheap plastic, but they don't have to look like a milk jug to prove it.

Black never goes out of style.
Page 23 of the manual confirms no SACD (also points out the obvious exclusion of ps2 games but mentions will play ps1 discs <--- I never knew that). Can't see anything to pin down Dual Shock 3

btw LynxFX... I hate your sig

with that in mind, i guess black is a safe choice. and it goes well with most home theaters. white would stick out like a sore thumb. but i still think it looks good.
I think it looks nice, not as good as the black one but it still looks good. Then again I have an olive green 360 with a bronze DVD tray sitting here on my desk and I think it looks good.
I don't get it... Xbox 360 came out with a black unit (realizing that white clashes with home theater components). Now they're coming out with a white PS3? It makes no sense.

link doesn't work or am I suppose to look for something once at the site?
