Merry Christmas all!

What happened to the typical Bookshelfs (HT-64) or the Towers (HT-75) ??

I can't find them for sale anywhere, not even the authorized dealer on eBay? Do they expect more in stock soon?

Hello all,

Quick question. Does anyone know anything whatsoever about a BIC model V636 tower speaker? I couldn't find a single entry about these on AVS or the net at all. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated as I'm looking at picking up a pair of them, but have no clue as to how they perform or what they sound like.

Thanks

Any one know about the new updates to the line yet? Are bic acoustechs still best bag for the buck for HT?

Been comparing these with
EMP 551T
energy c-500

I have a pair of of v736's, which I assume are a newer version of the 636's (dual 6 1/2" woofers, 1" soft dome tweeter, with the Ed Frias crossover mods). Bought these back in 2001 on ubid for about $120 for the pair. Fine sounding speakers for the money, especially for music. Bass is surprisingly deep. Probably just have to keep checking periodically on ebay, audiogon or craigslist.

What's so hush-hush that something can't be said out here in the open?

I'm interested in knowing about the replacement series for this line as well...I sat idle a little too long and now I'm unable to find these anywhere!
How about the H200?
"A new series of BIC/Acoustech speakers is on its way, equal or very slightly improved, and with a quite different woofer cone color. I am not able to say just when it will be available, but it will not be long."

Thats an excerpt from an email from bic acoustech. No only if I could figure out how long is "it will not be long". For all you bic owners out there, how do ou find these compare to the Klipsch?

As I am an extreme noob to the home theater experience, I've been spending most evenings for the last few months browsing the pages of AVS, much to my wife's chagrin. I think my mental sponge has reached it's saturation limit but I am grateful to each of you for the knowledge I've gained in such a short time.

It was because of this thread that I pulled the trigger right before Christmas to get the PA-120 (when I mistakenly thought I was getting the H-100), the 64's and the 85. Unfortunately I didn't read enough of these pages to realize that the whole line was being discontinued.

The guy at Acoustic Sound Design was.....less than helpful and not the cheeriest of fellows but I did just get off the phone with the salesperson from BIC America and she stated that the 8" towers just arrived and we should see them on their website by the end of the week. She also stated that the 6 1/2" towers should be arriving before the end of the month. She said they will have the same horn tweeter as before but improvements have been made all around (i.e. cosmetically, power, etc.).

Sorry for the essay, but I hope I've been of some help/encouragement for those, like myself, who have been waiting anxiously for their arrival.

Sweeet!

I am looking foward to trading in my HT-75/HT-65 fronts for a new larger tower set.

Hmmm....if anyone is getting the new one's and selling theirs then let me know!!! I'm really weary about buying online so if your in Oklahoma or close to Norman, OK.....thats a +. Im probably just over-reacting ha.

Has anyone tested these against the Infinity P362's, Polk Monitor 50's, 60's or any other speakers around this budget range?? I saw one review and they quickly ruled out the BIC HT-75....so im leary.

After much hunting around I am about to pull the trigger on a set of Aperion speakers, but before I do, I would like to know if BIC speakers are any good.

I had seen a lot of posts replying to my general speaker questions recommending the H-100 sub.

I guess my first question is: How would you rate the H-100 sub and How good are there speakers all around?

Second Question: If I were to buy a 5.1 Accoustech setup for a medium size room, what should I buy for each speaker in the setup and where would you recommend buying it?

Third: How well would you say the BIC setup would compare to a similar Aperion setup, speaker for speaker?

Lastly: I heard different rumours about BIC going out of business and being taken over by a Chinese manufacturer, or that the H-100 is discontinued and the new subs are just 'ok' - What's the truth in all this?

Thanks, I hope I can make a firm decision in whether to sink the cash into an Aperion, or whether I'd be perfectly happy with BIC.

I compared my P362 and Beta 360 against the Bic HT-75 and HT-65. I prefer the Infinity's. The Bics are still very nice though. I wouldn't even consider rating them as low as the other guy did in his comparison.

Well I pulled the trigger on the Accoustech - the price was just to good and as I am going from TV Speaker land, I think I will be happy.

I got the H-100 for $210 and the HT-85 for $125

Now I'd like to source towers for the front and sides of my room and depending on price, maybe I'll be able to squeeze a 7.1 out of it.

Anyone know where the HT-75's or HT-88's are going at a good price right now?

So the next questions is - are the 88's worth the money and should I go for four/six 88's or have 88's for front, 75's for the rest? Is there a big difference?

Any particular brand of reciever better with the Acoustech's than others?

I think the HT-75s and HT-88s are out of stock everywhere and might no longer in production at all. I think the HT-65s might still be available though. I have the HT-65s and are happy with them.

Just an update - I called around - your right - out of stock everywhere, although I was told the new model line to replace the HT-XX series is in effect here - coming in stock in the next couple of weeks.

The replacements will be:

PL200 250W RMS Sub

PL-89 -8'INCH TOWER
PL-76 -6'INCH TOWER

PL-26 -6'INCH CENTER
PL-28 -8'INCH CENTER

Anyone got any news on these?

Since I have already sourced a H-100 and a HT-85 Center, I am in a dliemma on whether to wait and buy the new gear and mix and match or scrounge for my HT-Towers.

I will say - if anyone wants to upgrade when the new gear comes out and wants to sell there HT-Towers, I am looking right now E-mail me: rich251076@gmail.com

Otherwise, anyone know much about these new models?

Hello. I'm looking to upgrade my current sound system. I have a 5.1 set up, consists of 4 JBL Venue Monitor bookshelf speakers, 1 JBL Venue VOICE series center channel and a Bic H-100 sub with a Yamaha RX-V363BL receiver. It does it's job at the moment, I guess.

I posted a separate thread and got some help, they recommended the Infinity's P362 towers and PC350 for the front.

Now I love my Bic sub and love how the acoustech speakers look. So I was wondering if there are any recommendations from Acoustech, that I should be looking at.

My room set up like so:

Thanks for the heads up. The PL-89 appears to be replacing the HT-88. But the PL-89 is listed as weighing 35 pounds. This compares to 51 pounds for the HT-88. Perhaps the info posted is not final.

Hey, what's wrong with your JBL's monitors? I've got 6 of those for my 7.2 system while running dual PA-120 subs. It sounds awesome for movies and I'm about to get a HT-65 center to replace my old Yamaha center...
Well I did have a quote for 6 BIC Acoustech speakers i hunted the country for. 2x88's 4x75's to make my 7.1 setup complete with the woofer and center i got elsewhere.

Sadly despite having a written quote and a promise to hold them until end of business today, the vendor sold out 2 of the speakers from under me, destroying my chances of a complete setup.

I don't know if anyone else has dealt with audiogeneral.com but I am very upset about the whole affair, so much so I have been turned off the speakers.

The best BIC can tell me is there new speakers will be out soon, but they don't know much about them - this leaves me wondering if these speakers are just arriving from some place in China.

I am going to get some Swans towers for now and will build a set over time with my H-100 and I won't be dealing with audiogeneral again.

I just got the BIC H100 subwoofer and I have a question about wiring it up. Polk HIGHLY recommends wiring their subs via left and right speaker wires in and then out to the L/R speakers. They dont recommend using the subwoofer cable at all....What do you guys think?? They said to set the L/R speakers on large on the receiver to allow all the signal to go to the sub and then out to the L/R speakers. I keep mentioning POLK because that is what my other speakers are (RM 8's) and they are set to small

If your AVR has it's own sub crossover setting...set it to 80, all speakers to small and plug the sub directly into the AVR

During the time I didn't own an AVR with a subout then I had a ground loop issue then no auto calibration
I ran my subs like this for years and never had any problem.
It'll work OK.. But I like my subs "HOT"
.this configuration is the reason why your h-100 has a built in crossover..
and "highinputs".. it's made to work this way..it's fine
hope this help
