Got to love dealing with the WAF eh? Man, that is tough... I know how you must feel. As you'll see throughout this thread, Klipsch speakers sound similar to the BIC speakers and you can always visit a local audio/video store or maybe even a best buy to audition some of the Klipsch reference line of speakers...
I have stepped away from BIC recently and went with a pair of HSU research HB-1 MK2 bookshelfs. I figured I would probably get yelled at by my girlfriend as she is also 'detail oriented'. When I sold my Formula speakers she seemed much happy that the best buy
look was gone and I fully expected an argument the afternoon that the HSU speakers arrived.
The conversation went as follows...
Her: Oh, I see you bought new speakers... lovely...
Me: Yes, that I did.
Me: (popped in Dave Matthews Live at Radio City BD)
Her: Great now I have to listen to the blare of SPEAKERS all night long *sits on couch and opens her laptop*
Me: I just want to play around for a bit, I wont be blaring them too long.. You can watch your jersey shore or MTV shenanigans soon enough...
*about 15 minutes pass and I notice she's actually listening/watching the BD I have on*
Her: Huh... These speakers actually sound better than your last speakers
Me: uh huh
Her: Actually, they sound a lot better and they look better too. Do they sound better with a TV and movies?
It shocked me how much of difference she noticed and how much of an improvement they were, especially with music, I fully expected another argument as she has never been fond of speakers. I have since ordered the HC-1 and two more HB-1's from HSU.. I am uncertain if she'll be happy as I am about to go back to the Best Buy
(her words not mine) ...but maybe, JUST MAYBE (lol) she'll be accepting and willing to accept them. Either way, they're still going to get setup.. HA!
Lets face it... it's not too often that our wives and girlfriends are accepting of our beloved hobby!
Good luck with your conundrum!
