If in-ceiling speakers are your only option then yes I believe you have chosen the speakers correctly.

Yes you should have a nice sounding and looking setup..... I plan on posting pics of my room this weekend.

In case anyone wanted to know, I ended up buying some HDTV mounts based on another suggestion. I think they're gonna work perfectly!

And just placed my order for my PL200 sub. Can't wait...

I am currently running a PL-200 sub with my Elite SC-35 and I was thinking about ordering an Anti-mode 8033c for EQ on the sub. Has anyone used this EQ with their BIC sub? If so what were your thoughts?

Thanks smile.gif

Hi there im a canadian dude looking to build myself a good home theater

and so I was looking at this BIC Acoustech PL-89

http://www.ebay.com/itm/390412666522

But since its about 3-4 years old, do you guys suggest anything more recent ?

For both movies and games

Bic just released an updated Accoustech line. You can get it directly at http://www.acousticsounddesign.com/

They were offering a coupon... I think it was tv15. Enter that at checkout and you get 15% off.

Oh WOW thanks a lot for the info Tiberius (kirk) ! is there any difference between lets say

The PL-89II and the PL-89 ? im Looking on google and cant really find any answers yet

and on the Ebay link it kinda seams its the exact description... any ideas ?

I don't think there's a huge difference. From what I've read BIC has changed the crossover which might improve some of the mid frequencies....but I don't know anyone that's actual auditioned them. On paper it appears that they might sound slightly better than the previous accoustech line.

cool would you go for the 1st or 2nd series if you were me ?

Just hoping it wont be a bad update eh :P

For me it would depend on the price. The pl89s are fine speakers and I get the impression they didnt improve them much. If I could save quite a bit with the 89 over the 89ii I would get the 89.
Boy that's a tough one.....I think I would get the 2nd series. The specs look good and Bic has a history of putting out good sounding speakers. It's hard to believe these would sound bad. I picked up a pl28 a couple of months ago. If I had known about the 2nd series coming out I would have waited.

Yes. So you've said several times. Its unlikely I will run into that kind of a deal.

I also got mine for $450/pair. That was the shipped price. I bought mine from acoustic sound design on 4/15/11. They are great to work with. Email them and ask for their best price and they will send it to you. I don't know if they can still sell these for $450, but it's worth a try.

Yeah I got my speakers in Feb of 2012. 2 - PL89, 1 - PL-28, and 4 - PL-66 for $989 shipped from acousticsounddesign.com. They are great guys to work with.

What do you guys think about these for front heights in a Klipsch system? How do you think they compare to the Acoustech PL66s? The tweeter in the DV62s concerns me. All my other tweeters are compression driven horns. But, again, we are only talking about front heights.

Anybody know where I can find some HT64s?
Is the PL-76 setup overkill for a bedroom?

Should I just grab the towers + sub and skip the surrounds?

You can never have to many speakers.

You're welcome; & back @ ya, you showed me BIC speakers & that they are, in some cases, superior to the lower level Klipsch speakers!

Guy has a pair of RS-62II FS for $600, which is half price; wish I could swing 'em.

Let us know if they take an offer for the PL-66 pair, please!

acousticsounddesign said they would take a minimum of $199 for a pair of pl66s delivered.

SWEET, so that makes them about the same price as those 89dB lack of efficiency Klipsch...

And theyre 175 watts instead of 50. 6.5" instead of 4". Im still looking for some good bookshelf speakers though. Seems like for $200 I should be able to find some really good bookshelves. Even if theyre used. My main concern is music. But its going to be difficult to find something to match acoustically with everything else being Klipsch.
Matching is overrated, especially on a budget. Center is PL-26,iIrc? What's the rest of your set-up & what are you aiming for?
