Klipsch THX Ultra 2 combined with smaller center?

I'm sort of limited by room set up, I'm in a 1200 cubic foot room and I've got a media cabinet and towers surrounding a Panasonic 58" plasma. I've got no room for speaker stands on either side of the towers so I must use bookshelves (RB61's) placed in the furniture surrounding the display and my center (RC10) is in a cabinet just under the display.

My question is, I've got a smaller center channel, the only one I can find to fit in my 6" space is the Klipsch RC-10, will replacing my bookshelves (RB61's) with the Klipsch THX Ultra2 KL-650's be too overwhelming for my little center channel?

The KL-650's will almost fit perfect in the towers, filling an entire shelf and offering a semi-custom look, also limiting the acoustic disadvantages of having the speaker on a shelf.

I suppose I could put the Left, Right and Center channel on the wall with the center above the display but there is an overhanging dropped ceiling which is bad for acoustics and I have no way of cleanly getting the speaker wire to the front 3 channels with them on the wall. Aesthetically it would be a disaster. So putting them on the wall is a last resort.

I just wonder if the KL-650's are too much and are going to make my system sound unbalanced with the RC-10 as my center....

By the way, the Surrounds are the Klipsch in walls R-5650S

thoughts/opinions???

ana, the rc-10 is one of the smallest center channel speakers they make. its just not a good match at all. it WILL sound unbalanced. IMO. COMPLETELY different specs and sound.

how do the 5650 in walls sound? lookin at using those for my rears.

Thanks for the advice, that's sort of what my gut tells me but wanted to get some opinions from others....

The 5650's sound great, I'm really happy with the Klipsch set up, way better than my DefTech's upstairs in the family room...

I don't think you'll be disappointed in them...

My biggest question with the 5650 is which to go with. If you call Klipsch you will get different answers. Which, i guess is typcial in speaker selection. Some say go with the R-5650-W with swivelling horn and some say the R-5650-s which is higher priced SLIGHTLY that is designed for a "surround" but I am thinking the swivelling horn is nothing but a good option to have. Wonder why the s is 20-30 bucks higher?

Can't explain the premium. My guess is it depends on your set up, if you've got a 7.1 system, the rears may sound strange with sound from the right rear directed to the left and sound from the left rear directed to the right. The space between your 2 rear channel speakers could be somewhat confusing. I think it's an ideal speaker for the rear channel in a 6.1 set up or for side surrounds....
