Not sure about all the model numbers, but I have Monoprice 8" in-walls and 8" in-ceilings throughout my house (14 zones via Nuvo Grand Concerto).
In my opinion, the in-ceilings deliver quite a bit more bass. Now I'm not sure if that has to do with the ceiling acting as a resonating "box" or what. I have no back boxes for any of the speakers. Of course, I'm sure stereo imaging is better with the in-walls.
In my surround zones, I have front/middle in-wall, rear channels in-ceiling. The Pinnacle sub woofer helps tons.

In-wall speakers don't offer much bass response at all, and to my ear, the 7604's sounded much cleaner.
But to be perfectly honest, the 6816's were what I initially was going after, until I started thinking about what Pristas said. Then I ordered all 3, and did side by side comparisons. if you search for posts by me, you'll find it.... It's burried in this thread somewhere!
