Hi, I'm looking to gain some floorspace from my behemoth cerwin vegas and get some in ceiling speakers. I've decided to go the monoprice route and wanted some opinions on speaker placement, and which to get. I'll try to keep this as simple as possible.
1.) Circle vs Rectangle.
I'm trying to decide on whether or not I should go with circle speakers or rectangle. Besides purely aesthetics, does it effect performance if I put typically in-wall rectangle speakers in the ceiling?
2.) Speaker placement.
I'm going with the 4928 - 10" in-wall subwoofer (red rectangle) which will be to the left of the fireplace (big brown rectangle on the left). Entryway to the top right of the image is to the foyer, angled entryway to the lower right of the image goes to the kitchen. Both entryways have no doors. The black, angled line below the fireplace is the wall mounted 46" television on an extendable arm. We normally angle the tv towards the seating area of the couch. Which would be better speaker placement?
3.) 3.1 or 5.1
Should I just get rid of the surround speakers since they'll be pretty much directly overhead?
4.) Go in-wall instead?
The reason I'm not going in-wall is due to the fact that the tv would be blocking the left speaker if we had the tv pulled out and angled a bit, which is the majority of the time. Is this a silly concern, and I should go in-wall instead (which would be a much easier installation).
5.) I would probably go all the same model for all five speakers.
A) For circle, should I go 4929, 4104, or 7605? (Leaning towards 4104)
B) For rectangle, I'm between the 6816 and 7604. (Leaning towards 6816 due to 3-way)
subB) If I went rectangle, should I get the 4881 or 6317 for the center channel?
Thanks for any advice and tips. I know its a lot of questions, and I appreciate any advice or experience that anyone is willing to share.
