HG10 Built-in Electronic Lens Cover

I am researching the HG10 and I have not found any information about using a 43mm UV filter. This is probably a dumb question, but is the UV filter positioned behind the HG10's built-in electronic lens cover when it is closed?

No the filter goes over the lens cover. which is the best way. that way your lens cover does not get damaged. the filter protects the cover and the lens.

Thanks for the response. I am guessing that most, if not all UV filters, have a plastic cap to protect the filter when it's not in use.

Well not really, the UV filter is the protection, That's really all UV filters do is protect the lens, they only cost like $5.00. so if something happens toss it. there's no point in adding a manual plastic cover.

If you are getting a filter which is highly recommended, get a true MULTICOATED UV filter. They almost always cost more than $15. The reason is cheaper ones like those costing $5 are just plain glasses. Glasses without coating WILL reflect light, it not only reduces the light reaching the cam but much worse effect would be to reflect light from the side that will create a ghost image in your HD video.
