Mine works fine but sometimes I get the "Mode not supported". I have to restart the reciever then it will work fine.

I have my PS3 connected via HDMI for almost 5 months now and never had any kind of trouble!!

Had mine hooked up since early December and the only issue is the occasional "Mode Not Supported". This boggled my mind at first, but found the quick fix of just restarting the receiver and it works around the issue perfectly. Other than that, everything has been great!!!

well you're not supposed to get mode not supported on your tv. if this happens then samsung will update your receiver for you!

i'm supposed to get mine back on tuesday

what exactly are they going to do?

I bought my receiver (as720) at the beginning of July and started getting this issue 90% of the time when i switch from dvd playback to the xmb after about 2 weeks.

I removed the receiver from the equation and it works fine directly plugged into my Samsung 46" LCD 4669 model.

If others are having the same issue it makes me wonder if there is some issue with the passthrough for HDMI...when you say update do you mean they update the firmware on it or just provide you with an updated version?

what kind of time frame did they give you for sending it away and did they cover the cost of shipping? did you have to send the speakers too or just the receiver?

I bought mine at best buy and haven't contacted samsung yet as I wanted to research the issue first.

Otherwise it works perfectly fine...i can temporarily resolve the issue by switching the receiver off then on, but I prefer to just switch it from vcr mode back to hdmi and then it comes back to life guaranteed. it's a minor inconvenience but i'd rather it just be fixed...

I think it happens when you change to something with a different resolution, like from 1080i to 480p. You can try switching devices and back when it happens, like switch to sat and back to dvd. It's definitely a little flaky.

I was able to fix my issue.

this is how I had it connected:

ps3 -> 6 foot hdmi cable - > samsung ht-as720 -> 3 foot hdmi cable -> tv

this is what corrected the issue:

ps3 -> 3 foot hdmi cable - > samsung ht-as720 -> 6 foot hdmi cable -> tv

I figure that the hdmi passthrough on this receiver doesnt like the different length cables.

I spoke with Samsung, Sony and Best Buy and noone had a clue how to fix this. Samsung offered to send me a refurb receiver, I said no.

I'm so glad I don't have to box it up and send it back ;p

This solution did not work for me I even abaught new 3ft and 6ft hdmi cables argh another $15 down the drain

I think ppl with handshake issues have defective units. this must be the only logical reason why some work and others dont (with latest fw, monoprice cables + length)
