PPC Compression F-Connectors

I've always used PPC EX6 Compression F-connectors, I've found them to work very well, and it's an added bonus that they are rated for dual or quad shield (so they work great on the Belden tri shield that I always use). I was also happy about them because around here the Fios, Comcast, and Cablevision installers use them, as well as many of the newer satellite installs I have seen.

The connectors have always said "PPC EX6 06" on them. I recently ordered more from a reputable online vendor, but I found that they say "PPC EX6 07" on them. O the plastic part the 06 says "XL" then underneath it "14". On the 07 is says "XL" then just "4".

Other than that they look the same and installed just as well. Does anyone know the difference?

I use PPC connectors but did not find anything about that on their website but you could call them: http://www.ppc-online.com/products/drop/ex_series/

The 06/07 is just the date (year) of manufacture.

Yeah, I something about proprietary PPC compression tools not having as long of a stroke (18mm I believe) but now the common tools are 21mm so PPC followed suit.

I haven't actually seen the non XL's for sale.

The PPC EX series was the first compression fitting made (a few years ago, PPC successfully sued all other manufacturers for patent infringement).

A few years ago, AT&T Broadband, who was using Digicon fittings (made by F-conn, a subsidiary of ICM Corp) and Cable Pro tools (also a subsidiary of ICM Corp) was being courted by PPC. AT&T Broadband told them that they needed to make a 21mm fitting as they were not going to retool all of their installers and technicians. Hence, the EXXL series was born.

Hi there

i have the same connectors but i cant get them to crimp onto the cable with my compression tool

can anyone reccomend a compression tool for use with PPC EX6-49 on rg6 cable
