My Xbox 360 Elite no longer seems to play Dolby Digital 5.1. I have it connected via HDMI to Denon AVR-3806 receiver.
It used to play 5.1 audio, but doesn't now. The only two games I've played in a long time are Rock Band and Guitar Hero III. In Rock Band, I didn't get any sound, so I rebooted and still no sound. I tried the audio menu and unchecked the Dolby 5.1 and voila, audio (2-channel stereo via HDMI).
Likewise, I don't even need to be in a game. Even going straight to the dashboard give me no beep sounds when I press the buttons unless I go to the settings and disable the 5.1 audio.
I'm absolutely certain that I've gotten DD5.1 to work from Xbox 360 before, but it just last week stopped working properly.
I've disconnected the HDMI and re-plugged. No change.
I've fiddled with all of the settings on the receiver and am pretty certain that those settings aren't the problem.
Has anybody else ever had this problem?
