You can hold it down and let it go all the way up as well, it will automatically come back down and that would be considered your accuracy meter of the pitch. At the beginning there is a line on the way back try and nail it right in the line for a great accurate pitch. If the line is gone (due to fatigue or lack of confidence in ones self or a certain pitch) try and hit it where the the line was at which I believe is the white?
To simplify the pitch meter just remember this... The first part of the meter is the pitch power/movement. The second part (or when it swings back) is pitch accuracy. Just remember hold down X the first time up the meter, then release it so you can hit X again for the accuracy part of the meter.
I am really trying to like this game, but the pitching is really frustrating me. I haven't played video games for years. This PS3 is my first gaming attempt in probably a good 15-years, so some of these game controls which might be obvious to experienced players, are not so obvious to the newbie like myself.
The demo shows the speed/accuracy meter as a 'banana' shaped meter. It starts in dark blue and lightens up somewhat then turns into yellow (at least what my memory recalls) and finally red at the other end. So if I understand right, I select 'X', then the meter starts moving from the blue end towards the red. If I hold down the 'X', then the point of release will determine the speed of the pitch? So if I press 'X' and release immediately, the meter would still be located in the dark blue area. Will this then be a slower speed pitch? Is the fastest pitch the one released right at the end of the blue and before the yellow? What is the speed if released in the yellow/red area (faster/slower/unknown)?
Now to accuracy
. After the 'X' button is released for the speed selection, the meter will continue to move all the way to the other end (red), and then reverse itself. Am I then supposed to re-hit 'X' again at some point on the meter? Is this also like the speed selection where you select 'X', hold it,
and then release at some point? Or do you just need to tap 'X' at some point on the meter return where accuracy is considered the greatest? Where is that point for most accuracy? Where the 'blue' part starts?
And how does one do all this 'X' tapping and holding with any control when there is a runner on base? The pitcher is not doing a complete wind-up, so the meter moves so fast you can barely select 'X' twice before it finishes, let alone do it with any selection accuracy.
Thanks for any help. It may help determine whether I actually buy the game or not.
