Queen's Future HT - Page 48

The place looks awesome. I must ask though, do you have vaulted ceilings all over the house as it appears in the pictures?
Queen;

Very impressive transformation, you should be proud (and happy to be contractor free)..!

Congrats looks great (and thanks for the tip).

Thanks for your kind comments guys. None of it would have happened without everyone's help here (faux wainscoting, craftsman headers, etc.). Not only did you guys shephard me through my HT build but also gave me great ideas for the playroom and main floor. As I have said before, AVS rocks!

Smaks, it only appears that way since those two areas that I photographed also happen to be the only two areas in my home with vaulted ceilings .

Whoa the transformation pics are awesome! Looks great Queen. It's amazing how much of an impact trim can make on a space!

Queen,

Now that's the kind of transformation we all love to see! All your neighbors are going be very jealous. Everything looks great.

Thanks guys. Shawn, thanks to your advice and pics - they both helped to transform my main floor. I am so happy with the way it all came out.

Watched "Michael Clayton" the other night. Very front channel driven. I think the only surround spot was the car explosion. Nonetheless, it was an excellent movie. My husband and I both enjoyed it, even though it was a departure from our normal HT showcase type choice.

"What'd she say about front channel driven? What does that mean?"

"I think that's what we used to call "dialog," which movies used to have lots of back in the day."

"Hold it down, will ya? ... I can't hear the LFE!"

It's funny you mention that I remember watching it and checking my anthem to see how many channels were being input - only 3 for what seemed like most of the movie. Like you said good movie though

Thanks to BIG's suggestion on the hard plastic for my makeshift tool, I was able to successfully complete my first grout endeavor. I cut out a putty knife shape from some plastic left over from one of my kids' toys. I was a bit worried about how messy it looked but once I used a sponge and a damp cloth it cleaned up pretty nice. The black lines are the tiles I had to grout. That left corner was tough.

My daughter's 7th birthday party (sea creature theme) was a huge success. The endless smile throughout the day was priceless. An additional bonus is my house is now clean and that cluttered foyer can actually be seen now.

For those who may have forgotten how messy it was...

Nice work on the grout, queen! As I've learned during my build, until you actually try something you don't know that you REALLY can't do it! Then, in my case, I know I really can't do it!

Love the clean foyer shot, but I bet every 7 year old that enters wants to take off their shoes and go running/sliding around those wide open wood floors & spaces in the stocking feet!

I know I would!

Did they watch any movies as part of the party?

Looks great queen, next summer wrought iron...

Queen,

That first photo is one proud looking commode shot :-)

Good job in getting the grout addressed. You have become quite handy these days !!

Funny you should mention that hanes because my kids thought it was the best thing for trying out their practice slides for baseball . Polishing and buffing the floors only helped their cause. Being the clean freak that I am, I gently insist that all visitors remove their shoes upon entrance into my home. So all those 7-year olds were slip sliding away . Fortunately, I did not have to exercise that umbrella policy!

I posted those foyer shots just so I could check them out on my blackberry. After having contractors in my house for well over a year, it's a HUGE relief to reclaim my house and get some sense of order back.

After the main party, we had a private showing for just a handful of close little friends. My daughter chose "Ice Age". I did not stay since I was busy cleaning up.

Add that to the long list of many other things like get the entrance and bay window painted on the outside, crack fill and blacktop the driveway, clean the basement junk out of the garage, actually find my office in the office...and the list goes on.

Thanks cuz. Upon further inspection, I could have gone thinner in some spots. Just glad it's done so that we can just finish up with putting the towel racks back up and the kids will be back in business. They're incredibly tired of our bathtub since there are no toys. I'll be glad too since it's much harder on my back, being a deeper tub and all.

Just finished watching "Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure". Normally, we do not have movie nights on a school night but today was my daughter's real birthday. It was quite fitting since we had a treasure hunt with all her gifts just prior to dinner. Story was very cute. The TB BDs continually impress me with their superior video and audio quality.

Looks great Queen!

What's the thing on the left side of the casing here:?

Maybe paint it white (or wall color maybe)?
I was wondering what it was to the right of the opening.

Thanks Shawn! It's my doorbell chime. I had asked my painter about painting it but because it's plastic he said that it would eventually turn a different shade after painting. It's close enough that it doesn't bother me.

Stew, I'm pretty sure that's just a reflection from my chandelier. But I will check it out during the daytime next time I'm home. My painter still owes me a fix for the interior of my basement door that I ruined. So if any touch-ups need to be done that will be the perfect time.

Watched "Transformers 2" late last night and was pleasantly suprised. Had read all the bad reviews (Shawn, your positive comments gave me some hope) but I enjoyed it. The beginning was a little slow but then it finally got going. Definitely a great BD to showcase the HT .

I recall a few (cuz, I think you were one of them) had expressed interest in getting the Wizard of Oz BD set. For those that did not jump in yet, deepdiscount.com is running an awesome deal. It's going for $42.99 but with following codes (FLNHEICBBA, L78Z5TW1YY, LTPVNY3FX8) take off an additional $5. With FS and no tax it sure beats my $54.99+tax .

On another note, painter is supposed to stop by today and fix the inside of the basement door that I 'painted'.

WOW, that is incredible. After one year with contractors, enjoy your completed project!!! In regards to the sliding on the wood floors................spray just a little Pledge!!! Just be sure to give them something soft to stop against.

Thanks Queen - going to check it out now
A side-note on yesterday's release of the newest Star Trek movie: I grabbed one at WalMart for $19 (yesterday AM).

Thanks HT. No pledge necessary as it's already like a bowling alley .

Just finished watching "The Wild" for family movie night. My brother had given it to the kids. That was the most obvious blatant "Madagascar" rip-off I'd ever seen. The filmakers should be ashamed of themselves.

In-laws came to see the HT for the first time. Similar to one of my friends, they too thought the playroom was the HT. Needless to say, the real HT knocked their socks off.

Assuming you mean the foyer on the main floor all I know is it's all hard wood, oak #1 (sorry, most of the builders out here use the same flooring, either #1 or #2). I tried to match the basement floor as best I could with the Mirage engineered wood flooring, red oak in a cashmere finish. Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone for all the holiday wishes!! Cuz, there will be plenty of HT viewing as there are many BDs for stocking stuffers .

I was referring to the floor in this picture below. I thought it was the foyer, but not sure.
