Oh, I won't paint the JL, but I might have it wrapped in carbon fiber to match the Wilson-Benesch's.

Speaking of custom paint jobs. I stummbled across pics of some Martin Logan ESL's I used to own. Along the sides of the electrostatic panel you could get various choices of wood trim. Well, I didn't want wood trim so I painted the trim in graphite metallic to match the TV.

Some things never change.

Tim,

Speaking of the Wilson Benesch speakers, did you place an order for the mains and the center, and if so when do you expect to receive them? I am looking forward to some pictures an your impressions with the new Classe gear.

I should have known you would hit me with this! Don't worry, eventually I will get to it. Right now I am still debating over amps and pre-amps!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that the KEFs showed up today. They were supposed to be here tomorrow, luckily I was driving home from the golf course when the driver called with a 10 minute out warning.

Needless to say I'm happy. First impressions are "this is a nice speaker" other than that I'll wait to make any further assessments.

Thanks for all of the help along the way, now to buy my center, surrounds; and a processor!

Mark, the satin Walnut finish look beautiful!! Congrats!! I cannot wait for further impressions...

They really do a nice job at making you feel like you invested in a high-end product. I cannot get over the accessories and the sheet showing the frequency response of your speaker signed by the guy who built it. A really nice touch.

Awesome, Mark! Congrats buddy. I love the finish!

Can't wait for more pics and listening impressions!

Very nice speakers Mark!
Dude those speakers suck! What'd you do, buy those at a gas station from some dude in a white van?!

(Sorry, just had to knock you down a notch after all of the fan-boy comments).

What I meant to say is congrats. It is clear that some very fine workmanship and engineering went into those speakers.

Enjoy!
Thanks again to all! They did show up in a white van and he was wearing an Exxon hat.

The folks who helped the most - I sincerely appreciate everything.

I play golf and I thought that I had either owned or hit every type of driver. Never had one that could call.

Thanks for that one, I haven't laughed so hard in quite a while!

You set that one up and I couldn't resist. Glad you didn't take it wrong.
Enjoy those new speakers.

Not at all! Thanks and I am.

Technology advances so quickly, doesn't it?

I can just hear grandpa now.

"Back in my day, we played golf the old fashioned way. We didn't have no fancy talking drivers!"

Hehe.
Mark grtz on the speakers and I agree with others, the walnut satin is beautiful.
I am really glad that you got the chance to listen to the Kefs

Happy listening all.

Looks like my guess of Halloween HT3s is going to be pretty close, for me. Just got an e-mail from Jim stating that Dennis should be getting the new woofers, and making the revisions to the crossover in two weeks time...

Dennis, rest your ears buddy, so you can work your magic. I am looking forward to hearing the fruits of your labor. From what Jim said we are in for a treat!

Cheers,
Greg

PS - I could have waited.

Golf-
I'm looking forward to your update on the KEFs, hopefully you will be able to spend some "quality time" with them. On a side note, I took the day off yesterday, to play some golf and see if my driver would give me a call :P Never made it out the door, the honey-do list grew to epic proportions, but got most of it done so I get a relaxing weekend. My LS 36.5 should be here early next week, my speakers at the end of the month... October is looking like a pretty good month for the old Funkmeister!

My driver has been talking a lot and saying very bad things! My putter hasn't been very nice either.

I can't wait for you to get the Salks with the LS36.5. That is going to be an awesome combination. I'd probably be headed in the same direction if it wasn't for the coffin affect on my wife - she liked the eyeball better. I would have waited. I can honestly say the Salk HT-3 competed with anything I heard except the Salon 2's.

I'm in Memphis, so music (Lang Lang, Chopin right now) is playing through a cheap DVD player to the TV between college ball games.

Rooting for you bud!

Mark-

You listened to a lot of speakers, at a much higher price-point than I did. Just out of curiosity, in what area(s) do you think the Salon 2's out-shined the HT3's? One of these days I will get back out there and listen to the Revels (though they are really hard to find for me, at least their lower end models (haven't looked for the Salons, or Studios)) and KEFs, and Monitor Audio Plat's... basically stuff above the cost of my HT3s. Which are by no means a budget speaker. I think I managed to get the cost up there toward the top with the premium veneer, and hand-rubbed finish...

I kind of said WTF on this one, you only live once, and I have restrained myself for 25 years (since I was a teenager and first got bit by the audio bug). I used the same rational to spend a ton more money on my pre-amp, transporter, and amplifier than I had planned on... No worries though, I am now planning on being very happy with my purchases for a long time to come. A few more pieces before my system is complete but I should be able to "get by" with what I acquired this year

I just have to stop researching the big guns... Tubes and a HT processor are next. Eventually a HTPC, most likely a Mac-mini is also in my future. I am hoping that by the time I am ready to go there, Apple will offer a Bluray drive, and blazing CPU speeds in the mini (though 1.8/2.0 is no slouch). I was thinking PS3 for Bluray, but the forthcoming Oppo has me interested as well (Kind of bummed that it offers the same up-scaling as my 983, oh well, c'est la vie in the world of electronics... obsolete as soon as you get it home )

I've rambled on enough for tonight... Time to enjoy my Avery-Salvation Belgian style Ale (a couple of those bad boys ought to get my driver talking) and relax.

Cheers,
Funk

Funk -

Congrats on the news! Now the hard part of the waiting really begins, at least that is what I've found. When you get to within a few weeks of delivery, the days turn into weeks. I'm sure that up to this point you had also become rather resigned to the fact that there was no solid ETA. Now that there is, you'll be counting the hours.

October is going to be a good month for me as well. I'm on week two of a 4-5 week wait for the Wilson-Benesch speakers to arrive.

Similar to your Salks, they are being made to order, albeit in Sheffield UK rather than the US.

Now I just need to find a buyer for my remaining two speakers. Wish me luck.

BTW - a little birdie told me that a certain someone recently took delivery of a pair of Gloss Black KEF 205/2's.

Hint: his name rhymes with "skydenpan".
