You are correct I just looked at the menu located in the Samsung 69F series and they do have the option to turn off Auto Motion Plus so that 24fps is displayed on the screen at 120HZ using multiplies of the original frame method. I will add the 69F series soon to the list.

Samsung LN-T4069F and LN-T4669F LCD flat panels have been added to the list

The Samsung 69F series is exactly the same as the 71F series when it come to the true 5:5 pulldown feature. When auto motion plus is turned completely off each 24fps frame is repeated 5 times and refreshed on the screen at 120HZ without interpolating of new frames. True 5:5 pulldown. Since there is no professional review on the 69F series that mentions this true 1080P/24 feature yet the link on the main list is currently pointing to the review on the 71F series so that one can reference how the Samsung Auto Motion plus works.

A while ago I was told that they were 60HZ displays, but then according to PC magazine they refresh 1080P/24 at 48HZ. The PC magazine might be correct but I was hoping that another review would soon be coming out that would verify the information. So the Sony V and W series remains on the list since the PC magazine review is the only documented review that claims 48HZ. PC magazine reviewed the V series but several sources claim that the W series uses the same method for 1080P/24.
I know that Nuvision entire line of LCD screens list 48HZ-72HZ for refresh rate but I am still trying to confirm what the exact refresh rate is when 1080P/24 is applied. It sounds like it may be 72HZ. I wish manufactories would label there displays so that consumers would know exactly what they are buying. Then I would not need to make a list anymore if everyone labeled their displays.

For it's worth, I work for a Sony dealer and was told by a reliable source at Sony that this was a 60hz display, took two days to get the info.

Thanks for the information, it is possible that PC magazine's Sony contact was in error when they told them it was being displayed at 48HZ.

I plan to reach out to Sony's engineers to see what I can confirm. They usually have to shoot an email to Japan but I normally get a response in 2-3 business days. I'll let you know what I find out.

JVC DLA-HD100 LCOS Front Projector refresh rate has been verified




The new April 2008 Home Theater magazine has verified that the JVC DLA-HD100 will refresh 1080P/24 material at 96HZ and 60HZ material is refreshed at 120HZ. This $8,000 projector is one of the best front projectors on the market for picture quality. The black levels and contrast ratio are better then most Front Projectors under $15,000 and the JVC will do this without an auto iris.

I previously mentioned that current Sharp LC-XXD64U LCD's are showing 24hz in the display when given such a signal. I have communicated with Sharp Aquos customer service to ask about this, and I was told that it natively displays the 24hz without doing any 3:2 pulldown. I asked for more information, such as the exact frequency it's output and I'm still waitingto hear back.

I didn't see any responses to my original post. Is there any interest in this one?

So far all the reviews I have read on the Sharps do not offer 1080P/24 true refresh rates. Yes if there is any Sharps that display 1080P/24 without using a 3:2 pulldown process I would be interested in adding them to the list. If Sharp and most other manufactories would start labeling their displays like Pioneer does then it would make things a lot easy. Then if that happen there would be no need for a list of displays that display 1080P/24 at multiplies of the original frame rate since things would be clearly labled.

Sorry, this may be a dumb question, but is it right to assume that the JVC DLA-RS1 and DLA-RS2 handle 1080p/24 in exactly the same way as their HD1 and HD100 counterparts? Also, is it right to assume that the new, upgraded DLA-RS1x handles things in the same way as well?

Yes the professional and consumer versions of the JVC front projectors handle 1080P/24 exactly the same. I thought about including the professional series on the list with the consumer series. These projectors are almost identical with the only difference being the RS1 is sold at JVC professional channels and the RS1 being all black with out some silver coloring. The price, performance, and all the features are identical on the RS1 and HD1. So maybe I should add those to the list but they are harder to find since only professional dealers carry them.

Cool Thank you for replying. I figured the RS1 would be the same as the HD1 and the RS2 the same as the HD100, but stranger things have happened then for certain features to be different, so I thought I'd ask, just to be sure. Maybe for the official list, you could just use a slash to say DLA-HD1/DLA-RS1 and DLA-HD100/DLA-RS2, just so it's totally clear.

This may have been true for the non UB version (last year's model) but the Epson Home Cinema 1080UB and the Pro Cinema 1080UB absolutely support 2:2 pulldown when supplied with 24p over the HDMI. It's in the manual, in the on screen menu, and when I enable it on my 1080UB when fed from a PS3 at 24p, all panning judder is removed.

The two professional reviews you cite above are for last years models (non-UB).

Guys, I finally got a response from Aquos support straight from the engineering department:

"This unit has a 48hz that does 2:2."

So the Sharp LC-46D64U now does 2:2 playback of 24fps material. However, only serial numbers beginning with letter C or above (i.e. D, E, etc). The firmware is also designated with the letter S rather than older models which have the letter U.

Aquos support has indicated that this is a hardware upgrade and older sets cannot be upgraded to offer this.

You are correct both the Epson Power Lite Home Cinema 1080 UB and Epson Power Lite Pro Cinema 1080 UB offer true 1080P/24 refresh rates at 48HZ according to page 38 of the instruction manuals. I will add these projectors to the list soon. Last years models without the UB (Ultra Black levels) have been verified from multiply sources that they refresh at 60HZ.
I wish that manufactories when they come out with new models that they would change the complete name or model number of the product. Making a slight change like UB to the end of a product is not that noticeable compared to changing the complete name or model number.
Thanks again for this information.

It is also noted on page 38 of the manual the projector displays 1080P/24 using 2:2 pulldown using either HDMI and component. Very few displays accept 1080P/24 by component video inputs.

It is the only Sharp that is confirmed to do true 24 fps refresh. It is a bit of a nightmare, although any of the newer ones bought from this point on should be in the correct S/N range. Last we heard everyone has been getting sets starting with E802. (2008 February). Anything new will almost definitely be E or higher.

The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 UB and the Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080UB front projectors have been added to the list




Warning be careful when looking at the model numbers for the Epson front projectors

The older Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 without the UB at the end and the Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 without the UB at the end display 1080P/24 at 60HZ. The new models that came out that have a UB at the end stand for Ultra black and have a better contrast ratio with a 48HZ refresh rate. I wish when new models are released that the name or the model number would completely change. Seeing a UB at the end of a long product name can be missed. There have not been any official reviews on these new projectors that mentions the 48HZ refresh rate but the manufactories instruction manual clearly mentions it.

The Sharp LC-42D64U, LC-46D64U, and LC-52D64U have been added to the list


Warning this is a complicated issue and only certain serial numbers with firmware versions qualifies to be on the list



The Sharp LC-42D64U, LC-46D64U, and LC-52D64U all share the exact same instruction manual and the only difference between the 3 models is weight, physical dimensions, and power consumption. According to Sharp Aquos electronics engineering department the 64U series original only displayed 1080P/24 at 60HZ refresh rate. Then later on Sharp made hardware and software changes with the 64U series that allows the display to handle 24fps using the multiplies of the original frame method (48HZ).
If you are looking for a Sharp 64U series that refreshes 1080P/24 at 48HZ then you will need to make sure that the serial number on the box or the unit begins with the letter C or above (i.e. D, E, etc). Also the firmware in the display needs to have the letter S rather then U. U was used in the 60HZ models. Aquos support mentioned that older 64U displays can not be upgraded since the older sets hardware only supports 60HZ refresh rates and Sharp is not offering any hardware upgrades.

I do not know at this time about the 734 series. I will keep a eye out for professional reviews that mention this feature on the 734. Only the Mit Front Projectors appear on the list since all the rear projector DLP and LCD flat panel displays from them so far when reviewed used a 3:2 pulldown process.

All of these professional broadcast monitors do 48Hz/96Hz.

PS: why on Earth are you STILL using these silly, unreadable coloring?

You must be using AVS "standard" (or whatever it's called). Many people use "AVS white" and forget about "traditionalists". I just noticed that there's an "AVS black" skin and it's even worse. Forcing a text color is not the way to go all the time.

I PM'd the OP to fix the text color.

This review:

says that he can see telecine judder on 24fps unless their motion compensation is turned on, which interpolates frames so kind of defeats the point of 5:5?

this is very worrying for me... my 47z3030 arrives in 15 hours!!!!
