Hey guys, me and my friend have been trying to set up his PS3 to his home theater system with HDMI and haven't been able to get the sound running properly and we're in need of some help. Not sure is this is the right area so sorry if it isn't.
My friend has a Samsung LA46F81BD and a Sony HT-DDW1600
So according to the manual we have to use optical for audio and two HDMI cables. We've connected HDMI from the PS3 into input on the receiver, to HDMI output from the receiver to the input on the TV, then optical from the PS3 to the receiver. Now we turn on the internal mute on the TV and switch over the sound to optical on the PS3, but we get no sound at all. And on the receiver UNLOCK comes up when you choose optical. Not sure what to do there.
We've tried a different method as described in the PS3 manual. HDMI between the TV and PS3 and optical to the receiver but still the same problem.
After reading a review of the receiver I was thinking this is probably our problem.
"The other letdown is that the amp will only act as an HDMI switcher, not a decoder, and the manual doesn't mention this at all -- it only goes as far to say that it may not decode audio from "certain components". Only a sticker on the box and the amp tells you this -- it may actually work in regions other than Australia."
Could someone help clear this up for us?
Thank you.
