Who has a Megatouch?

A few months ago I decided that I would like to have a Megatouch at home. The kids enjoy playing the machine at the local sport's bar and I thought it would be a cool addition to the game room. I figured I would start looking for some info on the net and find a lot of information. To my suprise I only found a few posts here and a scattered post or two on another forum but not as much as I expected. Although we haven't had our machine for very long it has been a lot of fun. Anyone who spends anytime on the internet knows everything is hacked nowdays from the PS3 to the iPhone. I generally try to avoid hacking any of my hardware for fear of screwing it up but I do enjoy reading what others are doing. I figured I find stories of people that had hacked the Megatouch OS to access a home network or add on programs, etc. but nothing, not much discussion about the Megatouch anywhere so I thought I would try and start a little here.

I have a Maxx Jade in the Classic Cabinet. I was looking for the slim maxx but living in Nebraska there wasn't a lot of local availability and shipping can get expensive so when I found this local it was too good a deal to pass up. I paid $500 and it had a dollar bill validator that I hope to sell for $100 on eBay which will bring my cost down to about $400.

Who else has one in the house? What model do you have? Does it get a lot of use? Any cool tricks or advice for someone new to Megatouch?

Hello,

I have a Megatouch eVo ION running 2007.5 software. Love it, but haven't played it in a little bit since when I start, I can't stop! Very addicting.

I can understand that, a friend of ours that owns a sports bar with a Megatouch calls it "video crack" becuase it is so addicting.

I have Force with 2007.5 software. I can stop anytime I want, I just don't want to yet. Fortunately I finally broke 400,000 on my favorite tri-play game, or I might've some day been found mummified sitting in front of that infernal contraption.
When I have a party, the women are all over it, especially the adult content.

Mike,

I live in Omaha (acutally Papillion). I was interested in getting one of these. How did you go about it - craigslist? going to bars and asking them if the wanted to sell? specialty shops?

Ed,

Good idea about hanging around bars trying to find one but I am afraid I wouldn't have gotten that by my wife. Send me an email at mikeatblackcowsdotcom and I will give you some info.

I have a Maxx Jade with an LCD flatscreen, 2005 software. We love it except we can't upgrade the software. We're selling it soon and upgrading. After two years of use, this has been one of the best investments ever. We have a MAME machine, pool table and ping pong and people are waiting to use the Megatouch.

I have a Vibe running 2005.5. Might upgrade to 2007.5

I just got my first Megatouch and am loving it!!
It's the last version of the Maxx series, the Crown.

If anybody is looking to get one, now is a good time. I got it for $650 from Ebay. Right now Ebay has a 10% off coupon and if you use the MS Live search engine and use "buy it now" and pay for it with paypal, you get 30% cash back.

So, $650 less $65 ebay coupon less $195 MS Cash Back = $390

From what I've read, the Force monitors last for approximately 3 years while the Maxx Monitors (Tatung) are virtually bullet-proof.

The MS Live 25% cashback is alive again!

Hmmm actually he sold the Diamond one. and still has the ad for the Emerald up. I should call and check on it.

450.00 for the Emerald version with DBV seems like a good deal now that I read more.

I can sell the DBV on ebay for about 100.00

so 350.00 isnt bad at all if its in working condition. and maybe i can upgrade it to the crown version for a 100.00 or so?

thoughts?

Yeah I would like one of these at some point. I wish on that link they had a better chart for comparing the versions. I need to do a spreadsheet.

ok, well you all will be happy to know I played the megatouch ruby tonight at a bar. There were girls all over me, but I said screw it, this thing is getting some run. It was pretty fun! Played the sports trivia, the poker, and the shuffleboard. They were all fun. And the party is still rolling! Mai Thais tonight, no more megatouch, unless it involves hooters (yeah I said it)

Your life sounds more exciting than mine.

lol my life is pretty boring at the moment. This was the first time I'd been out in a while. The megatouch was real fun though.
