Just wanted to give a nice 'shout out' to the fine workers at the Sunset Blvd. TWC center..

My dog destroyed my remote while I was at work this morning (damn cat..stop knocking it off the book case...grrr...) and when I went to replace it, they gave me a new one for free, instead of having me spend 10 bucks on one...

Just thought I'd point out that there are some nice people in the TWC market besides DianaTWCSC

And actually...was my first pleasant experience with TWC i've had since i've been a subscriber...

Don't get too excited. Your paying .31 cents a month for that remote!
Lol gene.

Hey, I was just happy they weren't like "Sorry...we can't give you a remote...but you can schedule an appointment for a technician to come give you one and set it up for you."

I honestly feared I would have to do that...

Yes, they installed it. The glitches are back bad tonight on the WVU v LOU game.

--- Double checked it... the FDC is +6, and the Tuner1 that comes on when on digital stations or HD reads either +7 or +8 depending on channel.

my thought is that it is the "new" box they gave me to replace my old one to fix the HDMI problem. Not only did it not fix the HDMI problem, its hardly new, as it looked much worse than my original with scratches etc... What do you think?

Is getting worse and worse as the night goes on - but only on digital and HD channels...
Looks like the bitrate for the two subs has been reduced. This may help the HD games this weekend.

I had a similar problem for about two weeks. During the day - fine - after dark about 7:30 things started going sour. By 9PM all digital channels we unwatchable.

I finally got a tech out here and he said the signal levels in the neighborhood were too high and the cold weather lately has exasterbated the problem.

To make things worse, TWC had previously installed an amplifier in my house, which boosted a high level even higher.

They got rid of the amp, replaced my line to my house and rebalanced the neighborhood and now all is fine. I even got a 50% credit for the two weeks I was having trouble!

My only complaint is that it took three phone calls and two weeks to fix.

Kevin, thanks for information. I'll be an interested observer. Just curious....how did you find this out?
Both subs video now have a smeared look to them. Before they increased the bandwidth to the subs they used to look like they do now.

It's just a guess, but there is a difference.
I called them last night and left a message... they didn't return, so I finally got a chance to call again - signal level looks good, blah blah, can't come until next saturday between 8 am and 8 pm.... :-/

I took the box out of the picture and used the TV's QAM tuner - same result.

I introduced a splitter to take the signal down 3.5dB to around 5 or so. Still same result.

Went into the structured wiring panel and took out the amp and all other drops - just connected the service line to this one drop via a -3.5dB splitter. Same result.

I'd really like to watch football without this...any other ideas?

F'N DOG!!! AGAIN!! The cat knocks over the remote...dog proceeds to chew up remote beyond use! Damn you dog!! GRRR.......
If only the dog would chew on the cat instead, that'd solve both problems

Sounds like the dog needs a good butt whuppin... It's certainly more trainable than the cat..

Or maybe you need to stop eating chicken wings while surfing..maybe that's adding a little flavor to the remote..
I thought the picture was better today than most Saturdays but there was still a significant amount of pixelization when there was motion. We'll see about tomorrow.

Lol, thats for darn sure. Especially when our cat is deaf...talk about hard-headed...

The dog does have knowledge to always sit underneath me when my wife and I are eating in the living room...lol.

SEC Announces Nov. 11 Football TV Selections

Games to be televised on Saturday in HD, November 11, 2006:

Network Time (ET) Matchup

CBSHD 3:30 ET South Carolina at Florida
ESPN2HD 7:00 ET Tennessee at Arkansas
ESPNHD 7:45 ET Alabama at LSU

All times listed are Eastern time

Maybe WLTX-DT will turn the subs off entirely for the USC game.(if there no threatening weather )
Without a doubt, the picture on 810 is improved over previous weekends. I will email WLTX and say thanks. At the same time, it seems like they could reduce the bitrate more and keep the weather channels functional and usable and improve the picture on 810 even more. I hardly notice any degradation on the weather channels (and could care even less).

The games this weekend have looked great on Wltx-DT. However, I would give the edge to the Pittsburgh game. I have knowledge that their general manger has an HD set!

As does WOLO's GM...

The Gamecocks game on Saturday night ESPN-HD was Horrible for me. Bad dropouts, bad pixellation. I had to stop watching it.

Anybody else have that ?? In fact much of the weekend many of the higher digital channels were bad, not just HD ones.
ESPNHD game looked fine here in Lexington. As for the outcome....
Maybe they should start televising the Newberry games more. My alma-mater at least wins games, is nationally ranked, and will be in the playoffs

GOOOO INDIANS! Is it sad that I'll be taping the Newberry-PC game this Saturday while i'm there?

And, since it's airing on two of the three PBS channels (SCETV and the PBS SD feed...) which would be the better one to tape? Would there be any PQ difference between the two? Normally the PBS SD feeds are of better quality than the SCETV stuff...but, I think that's just because it's normally just a mirrored telecast of whatever is on PBSHD...

First off, glad I found this thread since I'm here in Irmo. I dvr'd the game and watched it yesterday. Had audio dropouts, but I think this was the actual broadcast and not TWC??? Also, i read here about the oversaturated signal and cold weather. I expected to see the results of that on the Saturday night recording but was pleasantly surprised to NOT see it. This has been a major problem at my house for several years. Most techs don't seem to have a clue and, of course, when they got here the temperature was warmer and everything looked good. Go figure. In any event, I'm again glad to have found this thread and will hope to contribute.

Cain,

See my post a couple above. I've been having tons of problems with HD signals and the higher digital channels. They are all pixelating badly and the sound drops out constantly. TWC is supposed to come Wednesday now, we'll see...

Yep, I have the same thing. Sounds like it may be a local problem for me.

HD Signals, and the higher digitals, channel 150 was unwatchable.

Does anyone know why TWC does not offer ESPN2 in HD as one of their cable channels?
You Betcha. Because they don't have contract.

They do not want to pay for it. TWC is the only major cable company not to carry ESPN2HD, and they were also the last to add ESPNHD.
Cain - are you noticing improvement tonight? For the first time in 3 weeks I can watch HD channels without cut out... No idea what changed, except that a line that was on the ground in my neighbor's yard has now been buried. Second time they have buried a line for him...
