Does anyone know someone out of state that gets ESPN2HD? It would be helpful if we know if this is SC only event. If the channel is down to due to technical issues then that might be what is really going on.
I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that ESPN Advertised the game all week in HD and it is STILL on their Web Schedule and an hour before gametime they changed their minds !?!?!?
Kevin have you spoken with TWC locally here yet ?? They are telling me the USC-Clemson game will also be "Blacked Out"... I like your theory and hope you are correct but they keep telling me at TWC that they got an e-mail saying our game at 7 is "Blacked out" ...
Update:
OK, I got a supervisor at TWC he says it has to do with the way ESPN is sending them the game in HD.
He said I might call ESPN and restate how much we want the game in HD here in South Carolina.
Not that it will do any good, but I sent a message to the WIS Troubleshooter to see if they would be willing to get to the bottom of this. If so, I'm sure it would be after the fact.
This issue deals with the reverse mirror things that ESPN/ABC does for football. If they do a reverse mirror the mirror game will not be shown in HD. GA/GAtech was a fairly local game that the ABC stations shows in this part of the country. The Uconn/WVU game was on in most of the rest of the country. So in this area they do a reverse mirror and show the "main" game on ESPN2HD and block out the HD so you will watch ABC HD!
AS a big ten fan this reverse mirror was almost an every week problem. You could still see the UConn/WVU on ESPN2. The UConn game ran a little late so that is why the SC game was not on right away.
You can thank the Big Ten Network for this problem.
