I assumed it was $5 for the bundle. I certainly hope so, otherwise I'll cancel it.

anyone know whether nfl network hd and cartoon network and the ancillary hbo channels ( ex. hbo signature ) will ever come to time warner? and also when is the CW going to start broadcasting in HD in cola? hopefully they do it soon and when they do, TWC will offer it from day one

I just noticed tonight that there are a handful of local station promos running on WLTX that are in HD. I don't think any of them contained HD camera shots, just graphics that actually filled the entire screen.

Does this mean WLTX will be the first in Columbia to broadcast their news in HD or did they just upgrade their automation system where they can originate HD content rather than strictly passing it from their CBS satellite receiver?

Looks like as of August 1 TWC customers will get YES HD and NESN HD (and their SD counterparts), although they will be in the Games and Sports Tier.

I swear WIS is either sending HD cameras out into the field or people they get reports from are, and then WIS is squeezing 16:9 into 4:3 for their news. Several tall thin reporters lately. Hope that gets fixed soon...

WOLO was the first commercial station in Columbia to air programming in HD other than from a network. WOLO airs the following either via satellite feeds or disc recordings: ACC Basketball (Live), Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, 700 Club(Live), syndicated versions of Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives. And coming soon Grey's Anatomy and The Unit. WOLO is also airing ABC produced HD promos and has the capabilty of airing commercials in HD, plus this list will continue to be updated.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding things....but don't all the stations in Columbia do this same thing (obviously with other programming...)

Yes, that's my understanding (with the exception of CW and MyNetwork TV apparently), but this was the first time I've noticed locally originated content in HD. I had not noticed that WOLO was doing the same thing so good for them as well!

Now, any station reps willing to state here when their news programs will start in HD?
Nope-not everybody airs the same number of HD synidcated shows to the extend that WOLO does.

It looks like SCETV in Columbia (WRLK, ch 35.1) is now carrying TVGOS data. They started with WNTV in Greenville earlier this week, and my Sony HD DVR shows TVGOS packets today also on WRET (49.1, Spartanburg) and WNEH (38.1, Greenwood) in addition to WRLK.

I need to feed a Dish DTVPal+ converter box into my Sony DVR in order to get a channel list (just like I did with WLTX), but after that I can get program listings directly from the digital SCETV channels. This probably reflects on a mismatch between the old Sony software and the TVGOS data, rather than on SCETV.

I currently have the TVGOS encoders installed at six of our eleven transmitter sites. Over the next two weeks I hope to finish out the installs. Here is the current status:

Online: WHMC, WJPM, WRET, WNTV, WNEH, WRLK
Pending: WRJA, WNSC, WJWJ, WITV, WEBA

Are there any early adopters here - those who have experience with U-verse in Columbia? If so, what are your opinions - especially as they relate to HD quality compared to TWC's? Thank you.

Has anyone else seemed to lose the hidef channels from 833 to 839? I get the message stating that "this channel is currently not available.". It has been like this for about a week. Also, lower frequency channels look terrible most of the time, not always. I have seen channel 3 (wis) look worse on my cable as it did 20 years ago using broken rabbit ears in Orangeburg. Is anyone else having these Time Warner problems?
This is a SDV problem and deals with signal strength, you need a tech that understands that. I had the problem off and on for 2 years. Finally got a tech that knew more than his name and he was able to resolve the issue. It also helps to call TW and be a pest!

is the MLB All-Star Game supposed to be in HD on Fox WACH 57-1?

It's in HD now. It wasn't in HD until Joe Torre was introduced.

Now it looks fantastic. I wish FOX's football games looked this good!!!! This rivals TBS's broadcasts in my book!

Is anyone else getting the blue screen with "Initializing, please wait..." on some of the TWCSC channels?

I'm getting it on a bunch of them. I've rebooted the boxes and it has no affect. When calling TWCSC, they want to make an appointment with a 3 hours window....like their schedule is the only one that matters.

Please let's get rid of this oligopoly and see if we can get some customer service.

I gave up on TWC about a month and could not be happier. Hope you will do as much, because their delivery of HD is no longer reliable.
Must be a Columbia area issue. I get a blue screen once every blue moon.
I treat the 'initializing' screens as a reminder that unless I visit those channels often, the box isn't sync'd right. Once I do get reconnected, there's usually no wait for quite a while.

Not sure that's the way thing AUGHT to work, but I adapt to what does...

How do you "sync" or "reconnect" your box? I unplugged and replugged both of ours yesterday. Haven't checked today.

Has anyone noticed that occasionaly WIS has what seems to be some kind of bandwidth issue? I'm a network engineer by trade, and I'd refer to it as occasional packet loss. I've noticed that when they are broadcasting HD content, sometimes you'll see a little jitter or pixelating and on occasion when it gets really bad, the whole screen just turns yellow for a little bit. I have dish and this is the only channel I'm having this issue with. It's very sporatic.

Just wonering what the issue is.

Thanks,

jmeetze

My use of 'sync' is just my interpretation of the problem when a specific channel has to have the box connected to the head-end to do its job right, and the connection hasn't been made recently enough.

Lately I see "Channel Unavailable" moving through the HD group like SyFy HD, then when I go forward and backward quickly the channel is there. Some issue getting the connection right the first time, then bang it works.

This stuff MAY be why I'm not finding HD recordings lately: the channel isn't 'available' when the box tunes it in, but there's nothing in the box programming to try an up/down to make the connection work. We get little DVR value, but at no discount...

Yes, "Channel Unavailable" is the problem. USA HD was not available Sunday while trying to record the new Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Red light was on, but the message said recording would start when the channel became available. No amount of channel up/down helped this time, it simply refused to be there. SDV overload, maybe?

So since it hasn't worked for weeks, I've switched to recording the SD version instead. If complaining about availability would do any good, to which department should I complain?...

Complaining to TWC never worked for me so I eventually dropped them and got DirecTV.

Are there any plans for WIS to add Universal Sports to a subchannel anytime soon? I know the FINA World Championships (swimming, diving, water polo) is on the channel along with many other Olympic sports such as track and field, beach volleyball, Badminton, World Cup Soccer, etc.

we can only hope not, their current HD signal is marginal at best ,and they already have their weather channel sub.
