It seems that every HD DVD that I have ripped so far been VC1 which my system is handling fine. I am using a P4 2.8, AMD X1 3700+ 939 and an AMD X2 3800 AM2.
I have the 3 supermans, 2 mummies, hp 3, 2001, dune, star fighter, bourne identity, 300 (VC1), TMNT (VC1), perfect storm, transformers, hulk and a number of others that I can't remember right now. about 30 total.
I am trying to see what I need for my HTPC by running it on my gaming rigs
The P4 has a 2600 XT and the AMDs have a RX1650GTs. I ran both fine with HWA on and off and have at most a 70% CPU usage but usually around 20-30%. runs fine with it off, but from what I am being told that Mpeg2 and VC1 are much easier to run. My HTPC is using a celeron D 356 (3.33) and a 6200 AGP and stutters a bit on VC1 (about 85% playable on 300 on most scenes where I am getting about 20fps out of 24fps) but is ok with mpeg-2 that I recoded to 1080p with a high bandwidth.
