Hey with everyone making announcements, I might as well too

Every dark cloud has a silver lining. I think for me the silver lining is no more combo discs!!!!! I hated those things.

I guess I must not be too bright cause I could never figure out which was the hd-dvd side and which was dvd. Half the time I had to stop the movie and flip it over!!! One thing I do like about Blu-ray. Cover art on one side, and shiny disc on the other side. By the way, I had the same problem with DVD with full screen on one side and wide screen on the other.

So what about you? What is your silver lining? Remember, you have to be a red fan to have a silver lining.

Let us know how you like Blu-ray! I will charish my HD DVD player for awhile until I save up my money for a profile 2.0 player. Which movies are you picking up?

You and half of the western civilization are going Blu Ray now. The other half can't afford to.

BTW, this kind of post is what Blogs are made for.

And you have to be kidding me, you can't figure out which side of the disc to put face up/down?

Truth be told, I jumped in with both feet and was red only for a week or two before I became purple. $99 HD-DVD and $194 for a Sony 301.

I considered myself red though cause HD-DVD seemed a more finish product with the ethernet port and none of the confusing profile stuff. Was less expensive too. But even though I was red in heart, I found myself renting more Blu-rays, than HD-DVD.

My HD-DVD player didn't self destruct when the Toshiba announcement hit the wires so I think I'll hold on to it.

I'd say thinking 'half' is being slightly optomistic!

like i said, i guess i wasn't too bright when it comes to figuring it out. i shouldn't have to read tiny tiny print and digest it to figure out which was the hd side. that is one reason i didn't like combo discs. half the time i still put it in wrong.

Your player didn't self destruct but your prospect of buying future HDM titles just got diagnosed with terminal cancer and will probably die in 6 months, maybe sooner.

It's not like you had much choice .

I had always planned to go purple as soon as prices came down a little. With the $400 PS3, I went purple not too long ago. I actually had bought quite a few Blu-ray movies with the BOGO offers, but just recently now watching.

I hate to break this to you, but everyone is going to be adopting BR or back to dvd very shortley. I'll be keping my HD DVD player and disks. No telling how long it will be before Uni or Paramount rerelease to BR. Besides, they still look great!

if your eyes cant proceive the difference in lettering on a disk . i think your best bet would be a SD has you are not getting any video benifit from HD.

Best buy in my area seems to be shipping a lot of the HD DVD media back to the studios.

i'll cut you some slack. when i first got my player i didn't know there were combo discs. i watched a couple of movies on the sd side thinking wow, these sure are crappy transfers. then i learned of the combo discs and to read carefully before playing
