BLU-RAY Players that can output a 1080p/24 signal

The new BLU-RAY player section is the best link I have seen about information on new players.

This new BLU-RAY player section is amazing with pictures. Players can also be sorted by regions all around the world. And the discontinued models are also listed. I am going to discontinue updating my link since this new section is much better. I can always post review links and information in the new player section of the forum. Also when I originally created my thread at BLU-RAY.com, the issue of 1080P/24 output use to be a issue but now every single BLU-RAY standalone player including the PS3 has 1080P/24 output. This 1080P/24 issue is a standard feature on all new BLU-RAY players.

Also I am glad the above link covers all players from around the world. I was only covering US made players in my link. The new player feature on this website is total awesome the way one can sort players by region A, B, and C, and all.

The following is a link that documents why these players are on the list and why others are not. Also for those that want to see a list of HD-DVD and dual format players that have 1080P/24 they can look on the old list. Most likely those players will be going out of production soon since BLU-RAY won the format war.

The Sony BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 have been added to the list. According to this link the players will be bonus view and BD-LIVE fully compatible.

Does Samsung BD-UP5000 qualify? It's a combo player, but does have an option to force 24fps.

Don't all of the current players support 1080p/24??? I thought the only ones that did not are the Samsung BDP-1000, Panasonic BMP-BD10, and LG BH-100.

All future players should support it. Sorry, but I think you're wasting your time.

When I first created this list it included HD-DVD and dual format players. Since BLU-RAY won the format war and dual format players and HD-DVD players are going out of production those players have been removed from the list. Also I plan on cleaning up the list one day and removing BLU-RAY players that have went out of production to the link below it now called “reserved for future use”. That way people can just look and see what the current in production BLU-RAY players are and the discontinued will be on the link below it.

Yes all current in production and future BLU-RAY players will support 1080P/24 and in away this list is a waste of time. Still I plan on posting reviews of BLU-RAY players in this list. It would be nice to have reviews of all the BLU-RAY players in one location.

I love the link. That list is a lot more professional and gives more details. I may discontinue this list in the future. I plan on posting professional review to BLU-RAY players in this link.

Do we know if these players that output 1080p/24 do it straight from source without intermediate steps (de-interlacing and 3:2 to 1080i/60)? I seem to remember reading that some Toshiba HD DVD players did that.

And is 1080p/24 in fact 1080p/23.97?

The de-interlace was only performed on some players when the user selects 1080P/60 output. The player instead of converting directly from 1080P/24 to 1080P/60 would first go through a de-interlace process. If done incorrectly like some of the earlier Toshiba’s up to half the resolution would be discarded. That’s why some people that owned certain models would place their Toshiba on 1080I if the HDTV they had did a better job of de-interlacing.
1080P/24 is native on the disc and all players that output 1080P/(23.97) are involved in no conversion.
