QAM tuner channel range?

I just hooked up a Sharp LC-26SH12U for my mother and cannot tune to any digital cable channels (analog channels 1-100 come in fine). She has Wide Open West basic cable (Chicago suburbs) - which broadcasts "in the clear" local HD channels in the range of 200-220, and also broadcasts digital music channels in the range of 500-600.

The TV claims to have a 64-QAM and 256-QAM tuner. However, in the user's manual, it states the QAM channel range is 1-125.

She also has a cheap Vizio TV with a QAM tuner that when hooked up to the same cable wire, is able to decode all the digital channels, 200-220, and the digital music channels, 500-600. I also have the same cable service, and have no problems picking up all the "in the clear" HD channels.

So apparently, some QAM tuners cannot support the entire range of channels. Is this indeed the case, or did I just get a defective TV?

QAM channels go up to 135. The channels up in the many 100's are virtual channel numbers that are mapped from the true QAM channels.
