Huge decrease in XBox 360 noise for $1.99 - Page 2

I found some similar things laying around, but forgot about' em. Put em' underneath, and voila, 360 is definitely quieter. I'm gonna pick up the jumbos, though. Raising the 360 just a couple inches makes a difference. Yay!

I pictured somebody trying to stack rubber cables under their console

I hear if you wrap your "system" in a "rubber" it is better protected

I have it vertically and noticed a reduction in sound. My 360 sits on an wooden endtable for materials comparison.

I'm going to try it horizontally tonight to see if it's less.

I ran over to HD at lunch, and got a 12-pack of the Clear 3/4" Sqaure Feet for <$3.00; if it works, I have 2 more sets to give to friends as Easter/Passover gifts... I'll be a hero!

I don't know if anyone mentioned this:
I got a noticeable noise reduction from adding one of those "skins" that they sell at BB for $10. My white Falcon Pro was ugly in my AV rack, so I picked one up; the thing is made of thin foam-like material, which definitely deadens the sound. It does not seem to make my Falcon run noticeably hotter, and the feet mod should now compensate with increased airflow.

Even a stand-alone HD-DVD player would still take up 2U anyway.

I placed it horizontally last night with the rubber feet and didn't think I noticed any less noise. Going back to vertical tonight to make sure.

I'd leave it horizontal just for the increased cooling you get from not having that perforated side blocked off.

They work way better than the ones you posted. The ones you posted I had also tried them before. These bigger ones lift the system higher allowing even more air flow and it being more quieter.

I installed these on my new Elite as well today. They definitely raise the console a good 1/4 inch off the shelf. I don't notice much of a difference noisewise (although the Elite is pretty quiet to begin with) but hopefully they'll help keep it cooler for the long haul.

i bought pack of twelve from home depot while picking up some painting supplies the raise it 3/8 of an inch and the thing is way quieter, also it does not heat up as fast so the fans stay off. great idea

So you're the jackass above me who plays Halo 3 all night with the volume cranked to 11 ... Hold on, I'll come upstairs and "silence your 360" for you with my nine-iron.

I must be going deaf ,I cant hardly hear my 360. I hear the fans kick on once in awhile but it doesn't really annoy me. Ignorance is bliss.

What/how was your solution for IR extenders (for the wireless console controller)

Same here. 30' HDMI cable and no noise issues. Also helps keep the room from getting so hot.

No need for IR extension with the 360 but I have an RF remote with base station for the other equipment.
