Play for free on-line, play blu-ray movies.
Output 5.1 lossless sound.

(If that's important to you? Your question is vague and I'm going to assume your well aware of the available game differences)

use wifi
To name a few: free online, play bluray, connect to the internet wirelessly, stream content to a PSP, play a game/movie without turning the volume up, play Uncharted.

However I do think that the 360 is a better game system.

You can play for months on end with a PS3 without having to worry about it breaking down.

Look up 'Red Ring of Death XBOX 360' on google. You'll be sorry if you don't...

great replies guys... l

ooks like the PS3 may be better overall... I can't see the PS3 being THAT FAR BEHIND the 360 in the gaming department, especially when blu-ray games come out!

what about comparisons in media center? I heard PS3 can play Divx or Xvid .avis and the 360 cannot. Is this true?

Also, the PS3 can't be modded and the 360 can, correct?

PS3's media capabilities far exceed the 360's.

Both 360 and PS3 play divx and xvid (there are some codec issues with both consoles, though).

By "modding" are you referring to illegally popping open the console and making illegal modifications so it can play illegal copies of games? If so, you'll find no advice here.

If by "modding," you're referring to available hardware modifications, the 360's are all proprietary (sold through MS at a steep cost) and the PS3's are mostly non-proprietary (much cheaper from an array of different manufacturers).

If by "modding," you're referring to available mods for software, the PS3's UTIII allows for user created mods. The 360 has yet to allow for such software.

Fanboy flood in 3... 2... 1...

But yeah, you can pop in a bigger hard drive for a fraction of the price. Oh, and controller has motion sensing.. and you can get a Playstation Eye(webcam thingie) and games for it. And there's the remote play, streaming media, PSP interactivity.

To make it easier, about the only things the 360 does that the PS3 can't are:

Be controlled with an IR universal remote
Controller rumble out of the box (for now)

Another plus for the PS3: Built in rechargeable batteries.

I don't consider that a plus as I much perfer not having to plug my 360 controler in to anything to get a fresh charge.

One word: Lair

Seriously though, it has an SD DVD upscaler that is among the best in the market (far better than the 360 upscaling capabilities)

What i have experienced so far.

360...
+ You can play your stored music on the 360 while playing games.
+ You can invite your friend to join your game when he/she is playing a different game or just in the dashboard.
+ You can make a friend request from a list of people you just played with.
+ You can remove the batteries from the controller.
+ There are alot of decent games.
31 games above 85% on gamerankings (360). 16 games above 85% (PS3)
+ Prefer the 360 controller for shooting games.
- Ring of death. Took a couple weeks for MS to send me another.
- Xbox live was down during the past holidays. Too many users?

PS3
+ Built in Blu ray player
+ Built in WIFI
+ Built in Bluetooth for headsets
+ I prefer the PS3 controller for fighting, driving games.
+ Seems like there are more mature players on the ps3 network.
- Playstation network doesn't seem all that solid yet.
Trouble getting friends in the same lobby on COD4; daily occurance.

Pretty sure it isn't illegal to do ANYTHING you want to anything you own. It isn't illegal, either, to make a copy of a game, it is illegal to sell or share it.

breaking the DRM on a game to make a copy is illegal under the DMCA I know the DMCA ignores Fair Use but it's still something unanswered in a court of law.

Let's break this down,
360:
1. Controller dies
2. Put game on pause
3. Get off Azz
4. Walk to wherever batteries are located
5. Figure out that you ran out of batteries
6a. Drive all the way to nearest store to purchase batteries
6b. Drive all the way home
6c. Put new batteries in controller
7. Throw old batteries away
8. 1/2 hour later and after spending x$
9. Unpause game and resume

PS3:
1 Controller dies
2. Put game on pause
3. Plug controller into usb cable
4. Unpause and resume

Yep you're right, popping fresh batteries in is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier

^^^ I have a play and charge kit, and a battery dock for my xbox 360. I also have a nyko cradle for my ps3. It's WAY easier on the xbox than the ps3. It normally takes me a few minutes to put the ps3 controllers in the cradle. On the xbox, I just pop the battery pack out, and I slide it in the docking station.

Since I have a play and charge kit, I also have a usb cable charger for my xbox 360.

7.1 lossless audio for games! A dream come true for any home theater nut!

Free user created content for games, currently Unreal Tournament 3, and in the future Little Big Planet.

i have had the PS3 for 1 year (60Gb) and i have had the XBOX360 for 2 months

heres some things i have seen different about them both
-PS3 has WiFi Built in and 360 has a accesory for it that costs $79
-PS3 can play Blu ray movies and 360 can play HD DVDs for $50 (dead deal)
-PS3 can play online for free, 360 will run you $50 for 1 yr
-PS3 can upscale DVDs pretty darn good
-PS3 will soon have Profile 2.0 BluRay which will cover lossless audio
-360 can respond to buddy messages, PS3 still working on it
-PS3 has games on scratch resistant BD discs, 360 on DVDs which scratch easy
-PS3 doesnt have the infamous overheating issue, my 360 has had the RROD 3 times in 2 months
-360 has a rumble on controllers since day one ,PS3 will get them in about a month
-PS3 can use any laptop 2.5" SATA HDD which you can get cheap, 360 has a 120gb for $179.99
-PS3 tops at 50 people on your buddy list, 360 doesnt as far as i know
-PS3 audio and video settings on the PS3 are way more options than the 360
-PS3 uses any Bluetooth as headset, 360 has to get one if the 360 didnt come with it
-PS3 and 360 has now enough game titles to choose from nowadays
-PS3 has SIXAXIS
-PS3 and 360 controllers are both very confy, but the PS3 is lighter and not as tiring after 3 hrs or so.
-360 has gamers scoring and achievements, i guess sony is working on it
-360 stopped producing the HD DVD ad-on
-360 has to be sitting sideways to have the best airflow and not cover the main vents
-360 has a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeee power supply BRICK ( i hate that thing)
-360 can be controlled via HARMONY remotes

hope this helps your doubts

Missed all the threads about sending PS3's back to Sony, dead disk drives and disconnecting controllers I taje it. Oh and how the 360 has been redesigned since the RROD issues.

I'm much more a fan of xbox live, the games, and the controller.

The ps3 serves as my media center though.I hardly play any games on the ps3 though. I hardly watch movies on my xbox either unless I have a PAL dvd, and the xbox can read these.

If you play shooters alot then get the xbox... I cant for the life of me play them on ps3 due to the controllers. I'm soo much better on the xbox.

Man the 360 had free user created levels a LONG time before Unreal came out. And you did not need a PC to create them.

Heck right now the 360 has user created GAMES on it and will again in the fall. Thats right, want to make a game and play it on your 360? You can!
