Removing banana plug inserts from speaker binding posts

Could someone please advise me on how to remove these stupid plastic inserts from the speaker binding posts of my B&W 804's?

For the life of me, I cannot remove them so I can use banana plugs.

You should be able to unscrew and remove the piece/cap that the plastic insert is in. Then from the open end, use something to push/pop out the insert. Screw the piece/cap back on and you should be good to go with the banana plugs.

I managed to do that but now the plastic cap won't stay on tight.

It was hard to remove the plug even from the inside.
