Mediasonic 150 and new hard drive not recognized

I've been using a thumbdrive with the HW150. no problem.
I just bought a 2TB WD 2.5" hard drive. The HW150 recognizes that the USB has been plugged in but
when I hit record, it says no hard drive.
do I need to format the drive or something else?

Do format hard drive as NTFS file.

Also make sure the drive does not have sleep mode, because when scheduled recordings kick in, it won't see the hard drive
and won't record

Make sure the current draw for the hard drive is less than 800ma. If the 150 PVR box is overloaded, it could be damaged.
If the drive does not have its own power wart you could try a powered USB hub with wall plug.

I'm using a 1 TB Seagate with its own power supply with no issues.
